South Park: Snow Day! Launches In March

The four-player co-op, South Park: Snow Day!, is scheduled to be released in early 2024 for current-gen consoles. This is the first console South Park game since the more show-accurate aesthetics of Fractured But Whole.

A new trailer released to YouTube showing its release date alongside some new gameplay as the story of New Kid continues. There are two different editions that fans can choose from — the Standard Edition and a Collector’s Edition that comes with some physical goodies. These goodies are a snow globe, a talking toilet paper holder in the shape of  Cartman donning his Grand Wizard costume, six tarot cards, and a knit beanie.

South Park: Snow Day! sets itself apart from previous games in the series, as it shies away from the 2D show-accurate aesthetics that the previous entries were known for in favor of bringing Cartman and co into the 3D space. Whatever the case is with this four-player co-op romp, we’re sure it’ll still hold a fair bit for those who are fans of the show when it releases on March 26, 2024.

What do you think? Are you excited to don the New Kid moniker again? Let us know below!

New South Park: Snow Day! Trailer Shows Off 3D Graphics

South Park: Snow Day! released a brand-new trailer showcasing the game in all its 3D glory. This will bring the iconic South Park residents together — alongside New Kid — for the first time since Fractured but Whole back in 2017.

The new trailer on the official YouTube channel focuses more on its gameplay, featuring a four-player co-op mode in a 3D environment alongside third-person combat. This would be a departure from the previous two entries, which featured a more “show-grounded” 2D animated style and turn-based combat.

We’re sure South Park: Snow Day! will seethe some of the same charms that captured many with the Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole, while also giving it its own identity. We’ll see when it releases sometime next year.

Native PS5 SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake Spotted

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake

Purple Lamp’s SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake appears to be getting a modern upgrade. Not much else is known at this time.

As dug up by PlayStation Game Size over on X, the THQ Nordic-published licensed platformer appears to be likely in the late stages of production. Considering it hasn’t been announced, though, it’s hard to tell when it’s gonna really release.

It is worth pointing out that while a native PS5 port is welcome, it’s hard to see what its purpose will be, as SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake was released at the top of the year and can already run at 4K at 60fps on the current-gen via backwards compatibility. All it could really add to the experience is the PS5-specific mechanics like adaptive triggers, haptic feedback, and its speedy load times, the last of which we suspect is their motivation.

What do you think? Will you pick up The Cosmic Shake on PS5? Let us know below!

Alone In The Dark Delayed To Avoid Crowded October Window

THQ Nordic has decided to pull the reigns back and delay Alone in the Dark, largely to avoid the crowded month of October. This isn’t shocking as Alan Wake 2, the hotly anticipated continuation of the Xbox 360-era Remedy Entertainment title was slapped with a delay a week after its initial release date to avoid the crowd.

Notably, developer Pieces Interactive cited in a press release the Remedy adventure and Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as the leading games causing this congestion of the month and that it doesn’t want to compete with such a strong lineup. It also says this will give the team time to perfect the game and enjoy the good games coming in the chaotic October window.

Alone in the Dark will now debut on January 16, 2024.

Wreckreation Lets You DIY Race Tracks With Friends

Wreckreation

It’s been nearly a year since Wreckreation was unveiled, but after its initial rounds, it fell silent… until now. This game lets you build race tracks alone or with some friends to add another level of unadulterated chaos.

In a new trailer showcased at the recent THQ Nordic showcase, which also revealed the next South Park game and The Last Ronin, we got to see some of the customizations that it’s gonna offer. You get everything you’d want in a track from loops — and lots of them — to buildings to dinosaurs to pool floaties, oh and a giant duck, we can’t forget about that.

After the fact, you can race your friends and such on the track you created in a car you customized. It certainly has a lot of content potential and unadulterated fun for those just looking to play. We all know that playing games with friends can enhance almost any experience.

No release date yet, but we do know at least that Three Fields Entertainment is getting work done. Wreckreation will launch to current-gen consoles.

TMNT: The Last Ronin Game Revealed For PS5

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ The Last Ronin timeline is getting the game adaptation treatment for current-gen consoles. It’s sure to be a huge change from its previous, more cartoony TMNT: Shedder’s Revenge, which featured the classic beat-em-up formula.

This no doubt grittier-than-normal TMNT game was only just revealed during the recent THQ Nordic showcase, the same one that showed off an update to the 3D South Park game supposedly in the works. Nothing of substance — not even a snippet of gameplay spliced between cutscenes — was shared.

If we had to guess, it won’t be like its cartoony counterpart and may play closer to a linear story-based game with an emphasis on combat and maybe stealth elements. Due to its unabashedly dark plot, it will likely be T, but we wouldn’t be shocked if this got an M rating. So far, it’s in the earlier stages of development, so we expect it will be quite a while before German developer Black Forest Games has anything big to share.
