TLoU Left Behind DLC Breaks Free, Goes Standalone In May

If you never picked up the Left Behind DLC for The Last Of Us , perhaps it's because you don't actually own Naughty Dog's masterful title.

Even so, you can still play the expansion. As announced over at the PlayStation Blog , the Left Behind DLC will soon be available as a standalone experience on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

On May 12, even those who don't own the award-winning TLoU can snag Left Behind for $10. On that day, the price will actually be lower for the PS3 version; don't forget that The Last Of Us: Remastered on PS4 comes with the expansion. In Left Behind, the story focuses on Ellie and her friend Riley as they attempt to escape their boarding school. It's a fitting, compelling addition to the main story.

And Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer added:

"We realize that most of Naughty Dog fans will have probably already played The Last of Us and maybe even the Left Behind Add-on chapter. if you enjoyed the games, be sure to tell your friends that haven't played this great introduction to The Last of Us."

Lastly, a two-hour trial for the TLoU multiplayer mode Factions will be included with the Left Behind standalone title.

TLoU Left Behind DLC Set For February 14, Costs $14.99?

Officially, we don't have a release date for The Last Of Us single-player DLC, Left Behind.

However, an image captured in the NeoGAF forums , taken from the US PlayStation Store, tells us that the single-player expansion will arrive on February 14. That's when we'll be able to discover the "real" Ellie, or so says the developer.

Left Behind has been described as more "playful" than the very serious, forbidding theme in the main story. The adventure focuses on Ellie and her friend Riley, and players will also learn how Ellie came to be bitten by an Infected. Voice actress Ashley Johnson said we should expect a "post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out." That's a little disturbing, but still fun.

That picture also proves that the DLC will sport a price tag of $14.99, and I say it's worth every penny. We're talking about the very best game of 2013 (in my opinion) and Naughty Dog just doesn't disappoint. Besides, how often do we see compelling single-player story expansions?

The Last Of Us Left Behind DLC Is More “Playful” In Tone

The Last Of Us is dark. Really, just very… dark.

And although we'll be in the same desperate, post-apocalyptic setting, the upcoming single-player expansion, Left Behind, will be more "playful" in tone. So says voice actress Ashley Johnson (Ellie) in a new PlayStation Blog interview :

"You'll definitely see a more playful side to Ellie and get to know her a bit better. You're going to see a lot of different sides to the character that you definitely didn't see in The Last of Us."

The new downloadable content focuses on Ellie's life before she met Joel, when she survived with a friend name Riley. It's the first single-player DLC Naughty Dog has ever created, and it will introduce players to the "real" Ellie. It will also cover the time period when Ellie was bitten by one of the Infected. Sure, that sounds all sorts of dire, but Johnson maintains that the theme is really a bit more "fun."

"It's a little bit more 'fun,' because you have two teenage girls going through a mall. It's kind of like a post-pandemic version of two teenage girls hanging out. Definitely not a normal hangout! It's very different–a little more playful."

The combat will be familiar, of course, but the tone will be a tad lighter. And given the dark and forbidding nature of the game in question, I kinda welcome that change.

Uncharted 4 For PS4, The Last Of Us “Left Behind” DLC Teased

Update: The voice actor in the new Uncharted trailer is Todd Stashwich, who has been part of popular TV shows such as "Supernatural," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Criminal Minds."

Thanks, Chris!

Original Story

The launch lineup for the PlayStation 4 hasn't received glowing accolades. But that's okay; we all know that the best is yet to come.

For instance, before yesterday, Naughty Dog hadn't announced their mystery next-gen project. We all assumed it was the new Uncharted but it wasn't exactly official…and now it is.

Uncharted is indeed headed to Sony's new console, but we don't know anything beyond that. The teaser trailer Sony released only features a look at a map and a piece of voice work (and it doesn't sound like Drake). Here's hoping the anticipated title arrives for the holidays in 2014; that would give the PS4 a much-needed boost, wouldn't you say? You should also expect to see a bit more about Uncharted in the coming months; seeing this game on the PS4 is gonna give you chills. That's what this studio does .

Naughty Dog also announced the Left Behind single-player downloadable content for The Last Of Us . Ellie seems to be the lead this time around, and her friend is Riley; the narrative appears to expand upon the story in the American Dreams comic . Gotta love the single-player DLC!
