Ubisoft said the closed beta for the hugely anticipated Tom Clancy's The Division brought in three times more players than they expected.
But that was just a teaser.
The publisher has announced that a whopping 6.4 million people tried out the upcoming tactical shooter on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The open beta, which ran this past weekend and featured a new story mission , was so huge that it became the "biggest ever for a new game brand on current generation platforms." It easily beat the Destiny beta, which was held in the summer of 2014 and saw about 4.6 million players. Furthermore, The Division beta players logged an average of 5 hours of game time each. That's some excellent engagement right there.
The Division will release on March 8 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
