It seems there are still more than a few game makers passionate about making new, tactical turn-based experiences! And there are more than enough fans willing to pre-pay through crowdfunding to make it happen!
Canadian developers, Carboard Utopia , are set to close out their crowdfunding campaign tomorrow and begin major development for their upcoming game, Children of Zodiarcs . If you're interested, you have until tomorrow to lend a helping hand.
Children of Zodiarcs is a tactical jRPG for PS4, PC, and Mac with a heavy focus on story, music, and art. The developers say the game is inspired by some of their greatest gaming passions including Final Fantasy Tactics, Tactics Ogre, and Magic the Gathering.
The story seems pretty typical starting with a motly group of would-be thieves suddenly getting caught up in a heavily over-politicized and vicious society within which they must fight to survive without sacrificing their own humanity. Given the developer's inspirations, perhaps this shouldn't come as a surprise.
The gameplay is set to be turnbased with an emphasis on card use and dice giving it a D&D sort of impression to accompany the tactical set up.
So what do you think? Are you happy to see these crowdfunded projects kick off? Does this interest you? Or are we better off without these "older" styles?
As for us, we can't wait to see what they do! You can check out their Kickstarter page here . There's a ton of info!
Thanks, Xenris!
