Splinter Cell Trilogy Infilitrates Stores, PSN Next Week

If you're looking for your stealth fix this fall, look no further.

The Splinter Cell Trilogy will arrive next week ; it'll be available in Blu-Ray and digital format on the PlayStation Store for $39.99.

The collection features the first three titles in the critically acclaimed series: Splinter Cell , Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow , and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory .

Many fans will tell you that Chaos Theory is the best in the entire franchise, especially after the recent Conviction failed to satisfy the hardcore stealth aficionados. Featuring stereoscopic 3D along with the standard high-definition overhauls, this package is a fantastic deal, especially because there are three games included. All adventures are an agreeable length and if you're new to the series, this is the ultimate bundle.

Hey, how often do we see true-blue stealth-oriented games these days? And with the next Metal Gear Solid a long ways off at best, the Splinter Cell Trilogy is an awesome option.

Splinter Cell 6 May Return Series To Its Stealth Roots

Okay, so the image is gone but at least it proves they're working hard on the new Splinter Cell .

Plus, the leaked image in question showed that protagonist Sam Fisher will be reunited with his trusty night vision goggles, which mysteriously disappeared in the last entry, Splinter Cell: Conviction . The game is currently in development at Ubisoft Toronto, headed up by original Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond, and the absent image also had the words "Broken Arrow" and the letters "SC6." The former hints at lost nuclear weapons (you may recall the movie with John Travolta and Christian Slater). Those goggles are important by themselves because it may prove the series will return to its stealth roots; Conviction sort of left that behind with a more action-oriented adventure that didn't go over well with some critics and hardcore fans.

For the record, I count myself among those hardcore fans, and I was appalled at Conviction . So listen up, Raymond and Co.: I haven't the slightest idea why Ubisoft decided to alienate all its fans with that game, but you had best return to the formula that originally earned you those fans. It's the only logical move, isn't it?

P.S. With the Splinter Cell Trilogy coming to the PlayStation 3, we'd like to assume Splinter Cell 6 is multiplatform.

Splinter Cell Trilogy For PS3: 3D And 3 Great Titles

PlayStation loyalists may be unfamiliar, but we promise that Splinter Cell is a great stealth/action franchise that deserves a bigger audience.

We knew the series would be coming to the PlayStation 3 and now we have all the relevant details on the Splinter Cell Trilogy . As revealed at the PlayStation Blog , Ubisoft PR coordinator Alex Monney said they want to "provide the players with the best possible content." Therefore, they're porting the PC versions of the three titles in question, as they had "more content and detail compared to the PS2 versions." Featuring brilliant high-definition visuals, stereoscopic 3D, and new Trophies, we'll get the following: the original Splinter Cell , Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow , and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory . In our estimation, all are well worth playing, and remember that SC never really tried to be like Metal Gear Solid ; stealth fans will tell you the two franchises offer very different experiences.

I've played every SC installment and although I think they went seriously awry with the latest – Conviction – these three titles here remain three of my favorite games. Chaos Theory is still the best, I believe. If you missed out last generation, you gotta give this Trilogy a try.

Ubisoft Confirms Splinter Cell Trilogy

The high-definition remakes just keep coming, and that's a good thing for PlayStation 3 owners.

It's even better when we're talking about games that were simply best played on the Xbox (in comparison to the PS2 versions). Ubisoft has revealed that a Splinter Cell Trilogy for the PS3 is scheduled to arrive next year. Including HD reincarnations of Splinter Cell , Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory , stealth aficionados ought to be plenty happy with the announcement. Ubisoft has also delivered the Prince of Persia Trilogy and we know about the new Tomb Raider Trilogy from Crystal Dynamics…so I'm sorta thinking we can get a Suidoden Collection in HD. Of course, there's really no reason for high-definition for such games but…well, one can hope, no? As for SC, I've played every last entry (except for Conviction ) and it's one of my all-time favorite franchises. Those who call it a "poor man's MGS" haven't played it.

I play MGS for the story and characters; I play SC for the authentic stealth gameplay. There's a very big difference. I don't think any SC was as good as either of the last two MGS installments but then again…few games are. If you missed out on the SC experiences last generation, this trilogy would be a perfect excuse to catch up.
