Soul Calibur Dev Prepping Something Special, Wants Your Input

Heeey, how's about a new Soul Calibur ?

It seems developer Project Soul has something big in the hopper, and they're not afraid of teasing that project. They also want your input: According to a post on their Facebook page , they're asking you about your favorite character(s):

"Calling all SoulCalibur Fans! Project Soul would like to hear your voice. They need to determine precisely who are the favorite characters of the community! Project Soul is probably preparing something huge… Stay tuned and spread the news!"

We have no idea that they're planning, but the team did say it's not related to SoulCalibur: Lost Swords , the free-to-play game that released last year. In the survey, you'll find 45 characters that have appeared in the award-winning series over the years. The survey ends on May 31 and don't forget that you've only got one vote, so make it count.

Any bets on the most popular character? I'm willing to bet Ivy wins.

Namco Bandai Prepping Free-To-Play Soulcalibur: Lost Swords

Namco Bandai is really into the free-to-play model these days.

After revealing free-to-play versions of Tekken , Ace Combat and Ridge Racer , the publisher has announced a new one: Soulcalibur: Lost Swords .

As unveiled in the latest Famitsu edition (and as translated by Gematsu ), Namco Bandai is making the new F2P fighter for the PlayStation 3. We don't know exactly when it will arrive, nor can we be confident of a Western release. For the time being, we can just assume it'll be available for the PS3 in Japan some time later this year, or perhaps early-to-mid-2014.

Soul Calibur V was released for current-gen consoles last year, and it was another solid, highly entertaining combat experience. This series rarely lets us down, so Lost Swords should be good.

Soul Calibur V: New Fighters, Character Creation Returns

Soul Calibur V looks great. Just about anyone who went hands-on at E3 will agree, too.

And for all you fighting fans, Namco has revealed a few new details : firstly, they say "half the roster" consists of all new characters we've never seen before. Secondly, and this ought to satisfy the hardcore SC aficionados, character creation will return! This was a definite fan favorite in SCIV and we have to assume this popular mechanic will be even more diverse and in-depth in the fifth installment. Oh, and although no fighting game really needs a great storyline, Namco wants to focus a bit more on the plots next time around. This is primarily to flesh out all those new characters and give 'em backgrounds and personalities, or so we assume. Overall, there will be between 20 and 30 characters in the game, which certainly sounds like a decent roster. Who's your favorite?

I remember being pretty damn good with Maxi and Ivy. Of course, that was a loooong time ago.
