Sony Reveals New Headsets And Yeah, They’re Pretty

Just in time for Destiny , here's an awesome new headset for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3!

The headset will be compatible with the game's singular audio mode and it'll retail for only $70, which isn't a bad deal, considering what it offers.

The headset boasts 7.1 virtual surround sound, support for custom audio modes created by developers, a retractable boom mic for voice chat, comfy breathable ear cushions, and in-line volume and mic controls. Now, it's not available quite yet – the official release date is "this fall" – but Sony will be selling an "extremely limited" Glacier White stereo headset starting today. It's a variation of the $100 Gold headset and it'll only be around as long as supplies last.

PS4 Update 1.60 Arrives Today, Supports Pulse Headsets

When the PlayStation 4 launched, it unfortunately wasn't compatible with most headsets.

Sony did promise that a future system update would allow more headsets to be used with the new console, and that update has arrived:

Sony has announced that system software update 1.60 arrives today, and it adds support for 7.1 surround sound headsets like the Pulse and Pulse Elite Edition. The update goes live later tonight.

Furthermore, Sony has revealed an all-new wireless headset. It's called simply the Gold Wireless Headset and it will hit store shelves "early this month" with a reasonable price tag of $100. The unit boasts 7.1 surround sound, custom audio modes created by developers, a noise-cancelling microphone for voice chat, and customizable faceplates. It's compatible with the PS4, PS3 and PC and provides you with 8 hours of use via wireless adapter. The versatile headset even works with the Vita and other mobile devices!

It's time to enjoy better audio when playing your PS4. That'll complete the experience, yes?
