P.T. Demo Disappears Forever, And That’s It For Silent Hills

And so disappears the last scrap of Silent Hills .

We knew Konami had officially canceled the project, and we also knew they'd be removing the "P.T." demo from the PlayStation Store.

But for a while there, even if you'd deleted the demo, you could re-download it. And really, it was well worth experiencing more than once, in my estimation. Unfortunately, the demo has been removed from the PlayStation servers and now, even if you added the demo to your library before it got axed, you can't get it back. Go check; if you try to download the "P.T." demo, you just get an error message.

In other words, if you've already deleted this file from your PS4, it's over. No more soup for you. If, on the other hand, you've still got it, hang onto that sucker. I know I will.

If You Deleted The P.T. Demo, You Can Actually Get It Back

Let's say you deleted the "P.T." demo and now you wish you had it back.

And you'd rather not spend a stupid amount of money on a new PlayStation 4 with that Silent Hills sample installed . Well, no worries.

The demo is officially gone from the PlayStation Store but if you downloaded it, you can get it back. Chris Pereira confirmed this at GameSpot ; he deleted the demo and the system will let him grab it again, as you can see by the screenshot. And yes, you can find the "P.T." playable sample in your Library and re-download. I've still got it on my machine, I believe, and I don't really have any inclination to play it again. It does suck that the game in question was canceled but really, we're talking about a demo here.

If you missed out, there's not much you can do. You can watch all of it on YouTube if you really want, though.

Want A PS4 With P.T. Installed On It? Better Shell Out

As most of you know by now, Konami has canceled their promising Silent Hills project.

The publisher also confirmed that they'd be removing the playable "P.T." demo from the PlayStation Store today, which means you'll never again see even a piece of this game.

Apparently, that fear has generated plenty of response on eBay. As VG247 notes , there are now multiple eBay auctions featuring PlayStation 4 systems with the "P.T." demo installed. Prices are going as high as $2,000 at last check, but the price will probably go down as more and more consoles go up for sale. Anybody with the demo on their machine is currently considering it, especially because it means you won't be parting with much. Well, guess that's all perspective.

Of course, if you act quick, you can probably rush into the Store and snag the demo before it disappears.

If P.T. Doesn’t Make You Uneasy, Get Yourself Checked

Yeah, I know, nothing scares us anymore.

As we're probably the most desensitized, jaded society of humans that has ever existed since the fall of Rome (and let's not forget the shocking similarities), very little has a significant or profound effect on us.

The discussion as to whether or not desensitization is a critical problem is for another time. The point is that because we're so heavily jaded, our entertainment has to keep pushing to get any rise out of us; movies have to be sicker, more twisted, and in general, more shocking if they're going to surprise us. Same goes with games. However, I have to say, if you've played that "P.T." demo on the PlayStation 4 and you weren't at least a little uneasy from time to time, I'd suggest seeking help.

This game does fear right. If this is what the new Silent Hill adventure is going to be like, I'm not even sure I want to play it, and I don't mind scary stuff. Fear is not about grossing you out; it's about playing with your mind, tampering with your imagination, and making you sweat. You're always tense playing through the demo, not because of what you see but because of what you don't see. There are times when you know what you have to do and you don't want to do it, just 'cuz your brain is telling you to run .

This isn't about blood and gore. This is about holding your breath when you don't realize you're doing it, wishing you had a better vision and hearing, and sitting perched on the very edge of your seat. Really, it has to have some impact…otherwise, I'm not sure you're human any longer.

Kojima And Del Toro’s “Silent Hills” Sounds Completely Crazy

It didn't take long for gamers to figure out that the mysterious "P.T. trailer" shown off during Gamescom was really a trailer for the new Silent Hill .

What's especially intriguing about this game is that both Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima and "Pan's Labyrinth" film director Guillermo del Toro are involved in the project. Kojima outlined his plans for the game during a special livestream event (as cited by GameSpot ), and they're encouraging.

He first said he wants to make new effort – that he calls "Silent Hills" – so it'll "make you pee your pants." But after collaborating with del Toro, he decided he wanted to make it even scarier. Forget peeing your pants; now you're going to "sh** your pants." And of course, that's much worse. However, Kojima added that there's a danger with making a game that is too freaky, because people tend to close their eyes. That can't happen when playing a game, obviously.

The fresh Silent Hill will use the vaunted FOX Engine, so it should look pretty amazing. If you're interested, there's a free demo on the PlayStation Store…just have that extra pair of pants handy.
