Silent Hill HD Collection May Haunt US On January 24

Maybe you aren't too jazzed for the new Silent Hill: Downpour developed by Vatra. But maybe you're a big fan of the older classic entries.

If that's the case, you'll probably want to pick up the Silent Hill HD Collection , which includes HD remasters of Silent Hill 2 (plus the Restless Dreams extras) and Silent Hill 3 , along with new music and voice acting.

And although Konami hasn't treated us to an official launch date, it seems several retailers are in the know: Amazon, Best Buy and Wal-Mart all say this great Collection will be available on January 24. That isn't a bad release window, as it avoids the holiday rush and besides Final Fantasy XIII-2 on January 31, you won't be too swamped with games.

Well, unless you're still working your way through your holiday gift pile. 😉

Silent Hill HD Collection Headed To PS3 This Fall

It's almost as if we hear about a new high-definition collection every week.

Konami has announced the Silent Hill HD Collection for the PlayStation 3; the attractive package features Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 . These games were creepy and chilling, and survival/horror enthusiasts will say both experiences are well worth having. And besides, who could possibly forget Pyramid Head?

Featuring 720p HD, "completely updated in-game voiceover directed by series vocalist Mary Elizabeth McGlynn," and full Trophy support, this collection boasts games we don't really see anymore. The genre has adopted more action-oriented trends this generation ( Resident Evil 5 and Dead Space , for instance), and we haven't yet seen a full Silent Hill console release. So when the Silent Hill HD Collection arrives – it's tentatively slated for a September/October release – you'll want to indulge. Right?
