MediEvil 2 Remake Could Be Revealed Next Month

Sony might be raring to return to the MediEvil branding with a MediEvil 2 remake, which could be revealed during an event next month. This has been supposedly in the works since 2021.

Orangee, an alleged playtester and documented leaker got spotted rather blatantly claiming some sort of announcement slated for May. As reported by TwistedVoxel, this remake — which is supposedly in development at Other Ocean Interactive — is possibly meant to be Sony wanting to have a Hi-Fi Rush-esque release — not much fanfare, just reveal when it launches on the PlayStation Store.

What with the understandable rumor of either a Showcase or State of Play happening in May, you have a rather legacy game with its original remake, also developed by Other Ocean Interactive, not just finding success from old fans who wanted to return to the IP after over a decade, but also ensnaring new players with its charm.

As it stands, this is just a rumor, but we can totally see this being a reality as Sony could be looking to pad out its releases with some smaller exclusives, especially as the PS5 Pro is all but confirmed.

What do you think? Are you excited to see what Victorian adventures await? Let us know below!

Final Fantasy 9 Remake “Real And Happening,” Says Insider

Final Fantasy 9

Another insider has added fuel to the fire of a Final Fantasy 9 remake. The rumor began as part of the Nvidia GeForce Now leak, which has been a rather good indicator of games in the pipeline thus far.

During an episode of GiantBomb’s Game Mess Mornings, gaming insider Jeff Grubb expressed how the remake is “real and is happening.”

Other insiders, like Im A Hero Too on ResetEra, expressed how the game will be a more traditional Final Fantasy 9 remake, keeping the traditional turn-based combat that Square Enix has steered away from to appease a younger demographic.

It’s also still at least two years from release and potentially a PS5 exclusive. Its exclusivity wouldn’t be too shocking considering the deal Square Enix and PlayStation seem to have with at least temporary exclusivity.

EA Gauging Interest In Other Dead Space Remakes

Dead Space

Following the immense success with the remake of the original Dead Space, it appears Electronic Arts is gauging whether fans want to see remakes of the game’s sequel and threequel. The first remake was plastered among the highest-selling software in the US, taking up the second spot.

Gloomwood developer Dillon Rogers took to Twitter to mention that he got a survey asking him to gauge how interested he’d be in remakes of the other Dead Space entries. The other games came out in 2011 and 2013 respectively and it would be wise to bring more to the table and overhaul the games for the modern audience rather than expect fans to get done playing the remake just to later purchase a game from over a decade ago that isn’t quite as up-to-date.

The recent remake did have a new ending that better linked the first entry with its sequel, which always gave vibes that they weren’t done with the franchise just yet.

Metal Gear Solid Actor Stokes Remake Rumors Flames

Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid actor, Quinton Flynn has stoked the rumor flames. Rumors of an MGS remake have been all over the place lately and have all but been confirmed.

Imagine the sheer surprise by fans when Flynn, who has been voicing Raiden since Sons of Liberty, brazenly took to Twitter telling fans to “stay tuned.” The main rumors stick to the trilogy, though, the actor’s response tweet targets a fan hoping for Metal Gear Rising 2.

Nothing is confirmed, but this right here stokes the fire even further than Konami isn’t through with the Metal Gear Solid franchise as a whole. It’s possible the company will take a chapter out of the Silent Hill book and reveal multiple projects from several developers, but for now, we’ll have to wait for whatever Flynn’s talking about slated to be revealed in the “coming weeks.”

Max Payne Back From The Dead

Max Payne

In an announcement a bit out of left field, Remedy Entertainment has come forward to announce that Max Payne is returning for modern systems as the studio enters a new licensing agreement with Rockstar Games. As part of their agreement, it seems that the OG developers of the franchise have chosen to start work on a remake of both the first and second games in the franchise.

It’s early in the development stages, but we do know that it’ll hit current-gen consoles and will be developed through Remedy’s Northlight engine. The engine has also been used to develop the upcoming Alan Wake 2 and its 2019 award-winning action-adventure title, Control. Remedy also assures fans that the Max Payne remakes will retain the studio’s normal “AAA-game production.”

Dead Space Remake Set Up For 2023 Release

Dead Space Remake

Fans have been ready for the upcoming Dead Space remake for quite some time, even before it was made official. Well, it seems we have a bit more of a wait. Now, it looks like we won’t see the remade Necromorph-slaying adventures for ourselves until sometime in 2023.

Earlier this month, fans got to bear witness to a Dead Space remake livestream showcasing audio design by EA Motive, the developer behind the title.

“We’re going to be heads down now working on the game, taking some time to review all the thoughts, theories, and suggestions you’ve all shared with us. We look forward to showing you how you’ve helped shape the game next year when we’re further in development!”
