Well, maybe they'll get this one right.
Major League Baseball has announced the return of RBI Baseball for yet another season; RBI Baseball 16 , developed in-house at MLB's Advanced Media division, is slated to launch this spring for "next-generation consoles, PC/Mac on Steam, and smartphones and tablets."
The last two entries, RBI Baseball 15 and RBI Baseball 14 were just plain bad, but MLBAM has promised "many new features" for the new effort. This includes an updated defensive AI system along with dives, wall-catches, and even fake throws. Perhaps most importantly, we get an "improved" batting mechanic that finally takes pitch location and swing timing into account. Yeah, that should probably be part of the equation.
We can also expect enhanced graphics and "high-res realistic design elements," as well as all 30 MLB parks. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will retail for $20, while the smartphone/tablet iterations will go for only $5 (no word on what it'll cost for PC). Lastly, MLB unveiled the cover athlete on Twitter : Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts.
