Rayman Legends Takes Advantage Of Next-Gen Power

Next-gen versions of games released for the "old" consoles should be significantly upgraded, wouldn't you agree?

Thankfully, Ubisoft is definitely taking advantage of the new hardware's advanced capabilities when it comes to Rayman Legends . Last year's acclaimed platformer launches in North America for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 18 (February 20 in Europe). The NA date is a week earlier than what the publisher previously announced.

As reported by GameSpot , the glossier Legends will offer "numerous features and content not found in the otehr versions." This includes playable characters inspired by popular Ubisoft franchises ( Assassin's Creed , Far Cry and Splinter Cell ), sharper visuals, and greatly lessened loading times. Said lead designer Emile Morel:

"Jumping in and out of a level has never been faster and it's a great feeling to have such a seamless experience. Navigating in the game now feels smoother and your gaming experience is never stopped by loading transitions."

The PS4 version will utilize the Dual Shock 4's touchpad to enable an all-new Camera Mode that lets players snap in-game screenshots and share them with friends. The touchpad is also used to virtually "scratch" in-game tickets and lastly, the PS4 iteration supports Remote Play. If you play it on Xbox One, you'll have the opportunity to earn 10 time-limited achievements by completing a set of challenges in a set amount of time (one week).

Obviously, if you missed out on Rayman Legends last year, February's the time to play catch-up with either your PS4 or Xbox One.

Snoop Delivers Rayman Legends Date For PS4, Xbox One

We knew iconic rapper Snoop Dogg loved video games. But when you pictured him playing a game, was it something like Rayman …? Wasn't for me.

Whether you did or not, Snoop showed up in a new – and decidedly odd – trailer to announce the launch date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the critically acclaimed Rayman Legends : February 25, 2014 for the US and three days later for Europe.

Rayman gets Snoop to join him in the colorful virtual world in this quirky trailer, and it's definitely bizarre. But hey, Legends is great for any platform, and it's cool that PS4 owners will get an exclusive Assassin Ray costume, while Xbox One players will receive additional Splinter Ray, Ray Vaas and Globox Vaas costumes. The PS4 version will feature touchpad movement as well, if that's your thing.

Although immensely challenging, this is a highly rewarding, amazingly creative game that deserves to be played. By the end of February, it'll be available on basically every platform out there, so you'll have no excuse to have missed out. Play it!
