Two weeks ahead of the PS5 Pro’s November 7 release, Insomniac Games has dropped a new patch for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. This patch released during the same time as the PS5 Pro-centric patch for fellow Insomniac title Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
Straight from the Version 1.004.000 Release Notes, new graphics modes and ray-tracing toggles have been added to Spider-Man 2 in order to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 Pro’s upgraded hardware. The ray-tracing toggles adjusts the lighting for shadows and reflections in interior and exterior environments. These come in the following settings:
- RT Key Light Shadows : Off (Performance) / On (Fidelity default)
- RT Reflections & Interiors : Medium (Performance) / High (Fidelity default)
- RT Ambient Occlusion : Off (Performance) / Medium / High (Fidelity default)
As for the new graphics modes, they are known as Performance Pro and Fidelity Pro. In a nutshell, Performance Pro is essentially the base PS5’s Fidelity Mode that targets higher graphics quality, but this time with the Performance Mode’s 60fps framerate. On the other hand, Fidelity Pro mode targets 30 frames per second but with adjustable ray-tracing settings. Perhaps both Insomniac titles having PS5 Pro patches make sense considering they are among those games advertised as being optimized for PS5 Pro in last month’s Technical Presentation with Mark Cerny.
