Sony: No, PlayStation 4 Will Not Suffer A New Game Drought

The software drought that often follows a new hardware launch is common. In fact, it's expected these days.

But despite a relatively unimpressive list of titles scheduled for the first quarter of 2014, Sony swears that there will be no drought for the PlayStation 4. In speaking to Kotaku , Sony boss Adam Boyes says there are plenty of games coming in the next three or four months. We just don't have the exact dates yet.

"I think we've got a lot of stuff that's gonna be coming out sort of on a more regular cadence than the competition, because we've got a lot of great, phenomenal indie games. I think also what you're gonna see is a lot of updates to the free-to-play games as they come online. We've got Warframe; we've got Blacklight: Retribution; we've got DC Universe Online. Then we've got Warthunder coming. And all those games I think we'll be continually adding and evolving the content that's available on them. And then once some of the other indie games start coming online, once they start releasing, we'll see a nice cadence."

Boyes said that we know about the games that are scheduled to launch before the end of the year, but there are still unannounced titles that will fall between January and March. That's when we'll start seeing the games hit at a "nice, regular beat." He added that "every few weeks, there will be new stuff to be playing on PS4." Boyes and his team also continue to fight to nab exclusive content for PlayStation platforms, which is good news for Sony followers. Love those extra bonuses!

As for exclusive titles we are aware of, there's inFamous: Second Son , which is tentatively set for February, and The Order: 1886 , the new project from Sony's Ready at Dawn studio. That might not be out until later in 2014, so here's hoping there are indeed many more games slated for Q1 2014.
