HDMI Gameplay Capture Feature Won’t Be Ready For PS4 Launch

It's a very cool feature but unfortunately, it won't be ready right off the bat.

The PlayStation 4 will support gameplay capture via HDMI, but Sony has confirmed (as reported by VideoGamer ) that this feature will not be available at the system's launch.

SCE President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida made the clarification on Twitter, saying the feature will arrive later via post-launch patch. The PS3 uses HDCP copy protection rather than an HDMI connection, which means you have to use analogue or component cables. Thankfully, we won't have to do that again with the PS4, but we will have to wait before it's available. Personally, I never understood why I'd want to record something I did in a game so I can show it to other people, but I imagine I'm in the minority on that.

The new PlayStation console hits the US on November 15, drops in Europe on November 29, and will release in Japan in February of next year.
