Shoddy New PlayStation Portable Rumor Surfaces

It’s no secret that fans are clambering for a more portable way to enjoy their favorite PlayStation games, well a new rumor has surfaced claiming people will be able to do just that. Earlier this year, it was also alleged that a new Vita was in the works.

On X, YouTube content creator TCMF alleges more info on this supposed new system. It’s also supposedly going to be able to play PS5 games through updates imilar to the Steam Deck.

Obviously, Sony is probably not going to actually do this — it’s been long-established that it’s left the mobile console market behind with the sad failure of the PlayStation Vita. With the bizarre success of the PlayStation Portal, though, it isn’t impossible for Sony to reconsider jumping into the mobile market again.

We just don’t expect it any time soon, nor will we anticipate this rumor to have any validity, considering how often these sorts of “leaks” surface.

Naughty Dog Declares It Won’t Be “The Last Of Us Studio Forever”

Naughty Dog

Studio head Neil Druckmann has asserted that Naughty Dog won’t be “The Last of Us studio forever,” as the game series tallies six total releases since debuting in 2013. The original PS3 game — and a subsequent remaster to PS4 — found great praise while its sequel was divisive among the community, but PSX Extreme liked it, giving it a 9/10.

During a LA Times interview (via VGC), Druckmann promises that going forward, The Last of Us isn’t going to the studio’s sole projects. In fact, it has several games in the works that might not share the game’s IP, but does share similar goals.

The change could be nice as even those who enjoy TLoU have to feel at least a little fatigued from all the releases of the game that fundamentally didn’t need a re-release. It’s all-too-possible Naughty Dog might dip its toes back into its abandoned IPs like Uncharted and Jak and Daxter, but we all know the latter is likely never going to happen.

This news comes amid a recently deleted interview that took Druckmann out of context.

Bungie Warns Of Destiny 2: The Final Shape Leaks

Bungie has warned players of a leak that affected Destiny 2’s upcoming DLC, The Final Shape. Apparently a small group got access to some of the DLC’s campaign, some of its Collections, and unannounced reward details.

On X, the official Destiny 2 account issued the warning, encouraging people to be safer online and “exercise caution” when it comes to potential misinformation. The Cali-based studio also encouraged players report leaks as a means to be considerate to others.

It’s definitely a lot more bitter considering the huge push there is for the DLC. After all, why else would three major previous DLCs have some time free for players to enjoy ahead of The Final Shape releasing on June 4?

Sony Dropping $250 Million On New Bend Studio Game

Days Gone

Days Gone director, Jeff Ross, who once criticized people for buying the game on sale, once again takes a jab at Sony for allegedly dropping $250 million on a new Bend Studio game not wanting to fund a Days Gone 2. The 2019 original game has turned into a cult game, but at the time was a panned game by critics and even fans.

On X (as spotted by MP1st), Ross shared some supposed numbers on an unannounced project in the works over at Bend. It’s worth pointing out that he hasn’t directly worked at the studio since late 2020. Obviously, he still feels scorned by the rejection of a sequel, especially as he was seeking the “bargain basement” price of $150 million.

Our hunch is this unannounced project is the ever-teased one that Bend is working on. Meanwhile, we aren’t sure, but this same teased project is the same as the live service that it staffed up for earlier this year. If true, we hope this next game is going to be a more immediate hit with its audience than Days Gone was.

What do you think? Do you still cling to hope for a sequel? Does it deserve a second chance? Let us know below!

Sony Pulls Heavily-Edited Druckmann Interview

Sony has pulled its Neil Druckmann interview for taking a question out of context, asserting that Naughty Dog’s next game will “redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.” Sony has apologized to Druckmann and the studio as a whole for the errors and context being lost.

If you head over to what was once the interview, you’ll be led to a statement about Sony coordinating with Naughty Dog to pull the interview. It isn’t clear if a re-edited interview will replace it or if it’s going to be lost to the void forever.

Last week, Druckmann called out Sony for taking his long-winded answer to a question about future projects and dream projects within the entertainment circle.

In re-reviewing our recent interview with Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckmann, we have found several significant errors and inaccuracies that don’t represent his perspective and values (including topics such as animation, writing, technology, AI, and future projects). We apologize to Neil for misrepresenting his words and for any negative impact this interview might have caused him and his team. In coordination with Naughty Dog and SIE, we have removed the interview.

As a reminder, you can get Destiny 2: Lightfall as part of PlayStation Plus Essential until June 3, which happens to only be a day before the the launch of the new DLC as well as when the new batch of free games appear.

The new trailer unveiled ahead of its launch showcases The Witness, the mysterious adversary from Destiny 2’s previous expansion. It appears based on the trailer, the main foe now is this established yet mystery-laden figure.
