Report: Sony To Reveal PS4 VR Headset At GDC Next Week

It seems the moment of announcement is nigh.

We've been hearing reports of a PlayStation 4 virtual headset for months, but Sony has yet to officially announce anything.

That day may soon be coming, though, as a new Edge report claims that the VR headset will be revealed next week at the 2014 Game Developers Conference.

The report adds that some third-party designers are already working on a prototype of Sony's VR headset, and these developers have said Sony's device is "far superior" to the first Oculus Rift iteration. It will be closer to the freshly unveiled Crystal Cove unit, in fact. Of course, there isn't much in the way of software just yet, but Sony is expected to show off some tech demos next week.

The announcement should come during the company's "Driving the future of innovation" session on March 18, where engineers from Sony's R&D division will explain the hardware. You ready for the virtual reality revolution?
