New Update Brings PS4/Vita Friends List Total To 2,000

After all these years working on your Friends list, I bet you wish the PS3 would let you keep more than 100.

Well, how about 20 times more? According to a post from the community manager at the PlayStation EU forums , a new update expands the Friends list for the PlayStation 4 and Vita to 2,000 names.

The PS3 will still only be able to allow for 100 friends. So, if you build a bigger list on the PS4 or Vita and then go back to the PS3, the older system will automatically filter your list down to the maximum 100. But you can still select certain friends if you choose:

"You will be able to set and lock a pre-determined friends list to be used while you play on the PS3 system if you wish. Support for the ability to display all of your friends in most applications and games is planned, however, some titles will be limited to the current 100 Friends limit."

Just out of curiosity, does anyone use the Friends list if they don't really play online? I mean, is there any other purpose? For my part, I'm not the biggest fan of everyone knowing exactly what I'm doing on my system at all times; I don't even get why anyone would care . I certainly don't care what other people are playing or watching.
