8 PS2 Classics Hit PS4 Today: Trophies, 1080p, Features

When it was announced that Sony would be bringing PS2 games to PS4 , PlayStation fans everywhere went wild.

Well, that's a bit of an exaggeration; according to one of our recent polls, most fans were on the fence concerning the new feature, most likely because we didn't know much about it.

We'll know a lot more as of today, though. Even before Sony's keynote address at this weekend's PlayStation Experience event, they decided to announce 8 PS2 classics that will be playable on PS4. When? Now. Today. December 5. The following awesome titles will be ready for sampling in both North America and Europe:

Sony confirmed that PaRappa the Rapper 2 and The King of Fighters 2000 will be added a later date. It was also announced that each game has Trophy support, which was "developed in conjunction with feedback from the original creators to be sure that they capture the spirit and feeling of each game." Lastly, each classic will run in upscaled 1080p graphics and support Remote Play, Live Broadcast, Share Play, Activity Feeds, and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App.

Sorry, but you didn't really believe your PS2 discs would work in the PS4, did you? You had to assume it would be all digital but even so, the addition of Trophies and giving each game full feature support is pretty damn sweet. And that's a fantastic set of games to start with; I love 'em all with the exception of that last one (how did War of the Monsters rate a spot on such a prestigious list, anyway?).

So, what do you think?
