Capcom classic, Onimusha: Warlords is coming to the PS4. 17 years ago, the game debuted on the PS2 and was labeled a commercial success. The game spawned various sequels and spin-offs with it’s most recent release in 2012.
Now, after five or so years and around 2 million copies sold, Capcom is brushing off this old IP to see how it will fair in today’s market. The game will be remastered with new features implemented to – hopefully – improve the experience.
Onimusha: Warlords will include a “high-definition upgrade” and modern widescreen support. You can, however, switch to the original display if you so choose, this can be done in-game at any time.
One of the more distinctive features of the original game was its difficulty. While there was an easy mode, you had to die repeatedly at a certain battle to unlock it. This is done away with and the player is able to switch it to whatever difficulty they feel they can handle. This is curbed, though as you cannot change the difficulty once selected.
Onimusha: Warlords will be released on January 15, 2019. You can read the full blog entry here.
