Oh man . How badly do I want this ?! Gimme gimme!

There's a new Kickstarter campaign out there that desperately needs your attention. It was started by Michael Mendheim, who created the original Mutant League Football on the Sega Genesis. He wants to do a sequel.

Yep, a follow-up to one of the most wildly entertaining games of all time (in my all-too-accurate assessment). The campaign seeks to generate $750,000 by October 16 and currently, the effort sits at $1,177 from 31 backers. Well, it just started, so here's hoping! If successful, the game would be slated to release in summer 2015, and it'll be scheduled to hit the Xbox 360, PC and mobile platforms. However, stretch goals include $2.25 million (Xbox One) and $3 million (PlayStation 4). Gonna need lots of backers for those.

The new effort will pay proper homage to the original title, while still building on that admittedly bare-bones foundation with "deep strategy, creative customization, over-the-top violence, and gross out humor." Mendheim did mention that it would've been great to work with Electronic Arts again (the publisher of MLF back in the day), but he really wanted to have "full creative control" over this new project. And if he gets his way, it will bosat multiplayer, single-game and full season mode, and even playoffs! I might actually like this multiplayer.

The only part I'm not sure I like is worrying about the health of my players. I'd have to see how that was implemented before I accepted that particular mechanic…this is supposed to be stupid silly fun and not overly complex.
