Capcom: “No Plans” To Bring Monster Hunter 4 To Vita

This isn't what many PlayStation Vita owners wanted to hear.

Monster Hunter was one of the big reasons the PSP came on strong (especially in Japan) in recent years. Therefore, you would expect Capcom to bring the much-loved franchise to Sony's new portable.

However, it isn't happening yet. According to what Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto told Mantan Web (as cited by Siliconera ), the company has opted to side with the Nintendo 3DS. So for now, there are no plans to bring the upcoming Monster Hunter 4 to the Vita.

"We want to have as many people as possible play it on the 3DS, and we are only thinking about making it succeed."

Obviously, part of the problem is that there simply aren't that many Vitas out there. There weren't at the start of the PSP's lifespan, either, and so, we had to wait a bit for Monster Hunter . Therefore, maybe we'll see the esteemed handheld series in the future…provided the Vita can survive.

Monster Hunter 4 launches exclusively on the 3DS on September 14 in Japan. We don't have a North America date just yet, but the title is expected to sell 2.8 million copies in Japan by March 2014.
