It's arguably the best game of the generation thus far and it appears consumers are responding.
After a slew of hugely positive reviews, Konami has issued a public ad on several Japanese websites (as spotted by DualShockers ) that confirms Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has shipped 3 million copies worldwide.
As the game only just launched last week, that's a very respectable number, although it's interesting to note that MGS4 managed to ship the same number of copies in the first week. And yeah, that entry was only available on one platform when it first arrived. Therefore, in comparison, 3 million for the multiplat MGSV seems a little low. There are about 37 million combined consoles between PS4 and Xbox One right now (and don't forget the PC version), and there probably weren't 37 million PS3s in homes when MGS4 first released back in 2008.
But there's no doubt that this game will sell exceedingly well, regardless of the final number. It's just too amazing to under-perform at market…right?
