PS3 Version Of Revengeance Gets 30 New Exclusive VR Missions

If you're a fan of the VR Missions in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance , get ready for a whole lot more.

According to a Polygon report , the PlayStation 3 version of the well-received title will receive 30 exclusive new VR Missions on March 12 in the US and Canada. The best part is that you can nab this extra content for free until April 3. Don't miss out!

These VR Missions will present new battle challenges, including one where Raiden is armed with only his fists in an "old-school platformer" type level. Sounds tough. The 30 missions also feature levels where players control a Dwarf Gekko for an added dose of stealth. In addition, at least two more downloadable packs will be headed your way soon, which will let you control metal wolf LQ-84i and Desperado cyborg Jetstream Sam. It's great to see Platinum Games supporting this one, because it definitely deserves that support.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is just oodles of fun, ya know.

Kojima Doesn’t Mind The Idea Of More Metal Gear Spin-Offs

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was a highly entertaining spin-off. That much is definitely true.

And as for the idea of more spin-offs in the future, Metal Gear Solid guru Hideo Kojima isn't against the idea at all. In speaking to IGN , the legendary designer reflected on his successful collaboration with developer Platinum Games:

"Initially we thought this spin-off with Metal Gear Rising was kind of an exception; it was a new thing for us. But that said, it went remarkably well, and working with Platinum Games we were able to achieve a sort of synergy where the final product was greater than the sum of its parts."

Then Kojima was asked the million-dollar question: Would he be willing to let a Western studio work on a Metal Gear spin-off? After all, Platinum is still a Japanese development team. Here was Kojima's open-minded reply:

"You know, honestly it's not a matter of choosing a developer in Japan or in the West. It's not even an East versus West kind of thing. It's just finding somebody who can really understand the world and setting of Metal Gear. … You need to choose somebody who would understand the subtle nuances of the cultural aspects of the franchise. If we could find somebody who could understand that, who could handle it well, then that's definitely a possibility."

More and more Japanese developers are opting to work with Western designers these days, and some are straight-up outsourcing their projects to US and Europe-based studios. However, MGS without that patented Japanese flair somehow seems…wrong.

Raiden’s MGS4 Outfit Available For Metal Gear Rising This Week

Raiden embarks on his first solo adventure this week, and all you hardcore fans of the cybernetic ninja will want to grab a special costume on day one.

Konami has revealed that Raiden's bad-ass outfit in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance when the new game hits on Tuesday, February 19.

This suit was originally unveiled as a Japanese pre-order bonus but now it's coming to the US as well. It'll only cost you $1.99 to get Raiden looking like he did in MGS4 so you should probably take advantage. Furthermore, if you didn't already know, pre-ordering Revengeance from GameStop will net you a Grey Fox/Cyborg costume. Costumes and outfits have always been highlights of the vaunted Metal Gear series, so we understand the appeal. That being said, we're also bigger fans of gameplay-related pre-order incentives.
