Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Surpasses 11 Million Units Sold

Spider-Man 2

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has gone beyond yet another sales milestone, breaching 11 million units sold since its launch last year. Most of its sales, though, were within its first few months on the market.

During a presentation hosted by newly-appointed co-CEOs Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino, it was announced that the game made that milestone as of April 20.

Not long before that cut-off date, though, Insomniac Games dropped a patch that introduced new features that no doubt contributed to the boost in sales, such as Mission Replay and New Game Plus.

We gave Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a 9.5/10 in our review, calling it “a great sequel, combining the old and new with a fresh story, iconic characters, and instances of taking a side step and playing as MJ.”

What do you think? Are you among those 11 million? Let us know below!

Spider-Man 2 Sales Pass 10 Million

Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has certainly proven to be a smash hit, surpassing 10 million sales since its launch back in October. This brings the series’ sales up to 50 million copies sold across its few trackable means.

Insomniac shared the news on Twitter, thanking all the fans for their support. It’s worth pointing out that this is with it just being on PS5, we already can assume it will release on PC sometime in the future, if both Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Miles Morales are anything to go off of.

At the point it does reach the PC market, it’ll no doubt reach a whole different audience. Just taking a moment and looking over at the lesser-known yet massive launch of Helldivers 2 exemplifies that.

What do you think? Was this sale number well-deserved? Let us know below!

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Unsurprisingly Kills It At PS Blog Awards

Unsurprisingly, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 killed it at the PlayStation Blog Awards, taking home over five awards. PSX Extreme will also be housing its own Game of the Year post here very soon.

Voters were given a grand total of 18 categories and a selection of first and third-party releases within the year, with the winners revealed on the PS Blog. For the most part, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 managed to blast to the forefront, taking a total of eight wins, while other winners included Sea of Stars, Baldur’s Gate 3, Alan Wake 2, and more.

We don’t blame you if you roll your eyes at these wins, but considering the fact the game lost all its seven categories at The Game Awards this year… and the unfortunate hacking over at Insomniac Games, we think this is a nice way to cap off the year.

What do you think? Are you excited for the next year? What game are you most excited about? Let us know below!

Spider-Man 2 Won’t Receive a New Update Until Early 2024, Studio Confirms

Those of us eagerly awaiting new content for Spider-Man 2 may need to wait a little longer as Insomniac Games has confirmed there won’t be any update until 2024. The studio cited that whilst they have been hard at work on the features they still require more time to reach the quality and standards set by the studio.

The studio did clarify some of the updates (on Twitter) that would be added in future updates, including the highly anticipated New Game+ mode. Insomniac Games also stated they had been listening to community feedback and as such have been working on other features, including replayable missions, swapping tendril colors as well as the ability to change the time of day.

Spider-Man 2 has been lauded with praise since its release and received plenty of Game of the Year award nominations. In our review, we gave the game a 9.5 out of 10 saying “It’s a quality webslinging experience that everyone should have.”

Are you disappointed about the wait time for new content? Or are you glad to hear the studio isn’t rushing it out before meeting their standards? Let us know in the comments below!

New Venom Free Roam Method Discovered

Venom fans rejoice as a new method has been discovered to roam the streets of New York as the fan-favorite fiend. This comes as the previous method has been patched out from Spider-Man 2.

Reddit user UnderTheHood788 (via Push Square) outlined the method, explaining that while playing in Fidelity Mode, players have to reach a certain cutscene, one that forces them to switch to Peter, as soon as the screen goes black, unplug the PS5, and upon reset, the Don’t Be Scared mission will be missing. You then have to go to an unmarked mission like a Talon Drone mission, and you will be put as Venom with all the Spider-Man-related activities opened up.

Obviously, this is an… unconventional and possibly unhealthy trick for our PS5, but if you’re desperate to get that Venom fix, then there’s your answer. We’re sure Insomniac Games will catch wind of this and stamp it out, but it was fun while it lasted.

Impressive Number Of Spider-Man 2 Players Eye Plat

Spider-Man 2

A pretty high number of players are chasing that Plat status in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. It’s leagues beyond other first-party games.

A Push Square report indicates that 20.3% of players have platinumed the game, while an impressive 58% have completed the story. As noted, the next highest-plat first-party game would be Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which, mulling over recent first-party releases, PSX Extreme can confirm that its 12% is the second highest first-party game that average players have platinumed.

It’s not a perfect metric, as some players prefer playing offline, but based on these metrics, it’s an impressive feat for the superhero game.

What do you think? Are you one of the 20.3%? Let us know below!
