Lords Of The Fallen: An Action/RPG With A Stiff Challenge

For those seeking an in-depth challenge Lords of the Fallen has got them covered.

CI Games' Thomasz Gop spoke to SCEE Online Content Producer Rhys Sutheran about the upcoming fantasy/RPG, and the details can be found over at the PlayStation Blog .

This happened during last week's Gamescom event, and Sutheran learned a great deal about what Lords of the Fallen will offer. In the first place, there are apparently two separate worlds and it'll be important for the player to make decisions:

"It’s an important point in the game. Learning more about both realms guides the player towards making a massive decision that affects how the story plays out – so getting the perspective from both worlds helps guide the game and the character in a certain way."

You can shift between these worlds whenever you want, which ought to prove interesting from an exploration standpoint. There are all sorts of hidden areas and secret paths, and it's possible that certain enemies are holding keys to such areas. However, be careful before you confront everything in your path; much like From Software's Demon Souls and Dark Souls , this adventure won't be easy.

"There’s a steep learning curve for new players, but we don’t want anyone to feel that they’re being punished constantly. If you learn how the enemies attack and adapt to that, you should be OK eventually. And we’ve added save points before each boss fight, so if you die really quickly you’re not sent all the way back to the start of the level."

You'll have to carefully study fighting patterns, and it'll also be important to remember that your environment can play a role in any confrontation. Lords of the Fallen is starting to sound like catnip for the hardcore gamers, while perhaps it seems less enticing for the more casual crowd.

Lords Of The Fallen Has Definite Promise

Hey, you know this Lords of the Fallen game might be pretty bad-ass.

Thanks to a tip, we've checked out the freshly updated website , and there are plenty of tasty new details and media.

There will be three classes: Warrior, Rogue and Cleric, and the depth of the game is actually quite impressive. At first, it looked like just another hack 'n slash game with a medieval setting, but this definitely qualifies as an action/RPG. There are 15 total bosses, for instance, lots of items and equipment, powerful magical abilities, and it seems the world and character can change "drastically" as time goes on.

You should also check out all the available screenshots . In some ways, this kinda reminds me of Darksiders II …and as a third installment in that series is still a long ways off, I may have to pay very close attention to Lords of the Fallen .
