Live Life As A Hobbit In Tales Of The Shire

We’ve heard more about the new Lord of the Rings game, Tales of the Shire developed by Weta Workshop and published by Private Division. This new info comes two years after its reveal.

The at-the-time mysterious game gave us nothing to go off of on what the game would focus on or what genre it would be beholden to. Turns out, it’s a hobbit life simulator. The stylized life sim lets you make friends, make your home feel like your very own, explore, garden, and we’re there’s more that just hasn’t been touched on in the recent trailer.

Considering this game is by the same people known for the special effects of the franchise, it’s anyone’s guess how the game will be or how much LotR DNA will be buried within Tales of the Shire. While no release date was revealed, we do know it’s releasing sometime this year.

New Lord Of The Rings Game, Tales Of The Shire, Revealed

Tales of the Shire

A new mysterious Lord of the Rings game has been revealed by Wētā Workshop and Private Division. The duo previously announced its partnership last year.

Publisher Private Division, the “developer-focused” publishing arm of Take-Two Interactive, dropped a teaser trailer for the game. It gives us very little insight into what to expect — only showcasing that it takes place in the universe, perhaps placing more of a focus on the Hobbit’s homeland.

Tales of the Spire promises to offer something unique to what other LotR games, so perhaps it’s more of a farming simulator or something like that. More info will come next year.

The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum Studio Addresses DLC Dialogue Debacle

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum releases next month and recently faced pushback on paid DLC discovered that hid Elven dialogue behind this DLC. The premium bundle bundles in the DLC along with three others, calling this paid piece of content “for die-hard” fans.

For its part, Daedalic Entertainment stepped in to defend itself. Speaking with Push Square, the developer assured fans Sindarin would be spoken when required, but the DLC is made to add flavor to the background. Basically, it adds Sindarin dialogue to characters you pass by.

“Sindarin VO expansion adds additional Sindarin lines to some of the characters in the background. While traversing through Mirkwood and other parts of Middle-Earth Gollum will be able to listen to various dialogues between Elves. These dialogues add to the atmosphere and worldbuilding.”

The statement continues by boasting about its trained voice talent, who worked with their lore experts to get the lines just right.

“Daedalic went the extra mile here and hired professional voice actors, who were trained in Sindarin by our lore experts. It is a DLC for the real Tolkien devotees who want to immerse themselves even more into the world of Middle-Earth.”

While yes, this is just an optional thing you can add on for $5, it does seem others aren’t really pleased with the decision to put immersion behind a paywall. Whatever your opinion is, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum releases on May 25, 2023.

Amazon Game Studios’ Lord Of The Rings MMO Canned

Lord of the Rings, Amazon Game Studios

In another setback for Amazon Game Studios, it looks like its Lord of the Rings MMO is now canned due to some somewhat unknown circumstances.

The MMO, which was set to take place in the LOTR universe, was first revealed back in 2019. Now, two years down the line, Bloomberg is reporting it’s been axed.

The game was being co-developed by Leyou, a subsidiary of Tencent since December. Thanks to the purchase, it reportedly caused negotiations that turned sour and led to the game’s cancellation, per people familiar with the matter.

Meanwhile, some level of confirmation was acquired by Bloomberg with an Amazon spokesperson telling them they were “unable to secure terms to proceed with this title at this time.”

This news doesn’t spell good things for its still in-development game, New World, which has already seen repeated delays since its initial release back in May 2020 then to August 2020, and obviously that didn’t pan out, so now we’re here.

Amazon’s Lord of the Rings MMO can join hands with Crucible and Breakaway as titles that Amazon Game Studios simply couldn’t finish.

Players Get A First-Look At Lord Of The Rings: Gollum

Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Lord of the Rings: Gollum has offered up some brief gameplay footage for the Future Games Show.

The clip doesn’t give us much, but we can get the gist of what they’re looking to offer in context with other known facts about the title. We can clearly know that this game is going to have more player-based choices in terms of how to handle situations. This footage just amplifies that and pushes how much we’ll probably be crawling across the land.

Currently, this game really just looks like your run-of-the-mill action-adventure with stealth elements and player-choice thrown into the mix to give it some variety.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is slated to release in 2022.

Lord Of The Rings Likely Going LEGO

Well, it was bound to happen.

After producing LEGO-fied video games for everything from Batman to Star Wars to Indiana Jones , one had to assume developer Traveller's Tales and publisher Warner Bros. had one more uber-major film franchise left to pursue…

It's "The Lord of the Rings," and as reported by MCV , a new line of toys have apparently confirmed the upcoming existence of a LEGO game based on Peter Jackson's epic theatrical adventures. It's expected that Warner will officially announce the new game before or at E3. For the most part, we expect nothing less than another solid, entertaining, lengthy family-friendly experience that Traveller's does so well. And given Tolkien's massive universe, the possibilities are almost limitless.

We've liked most all of the LEGO games. There's not much not to like.
