Forget Star Wars KotOR, I Really Want A Jade Empire Remake

So, this latest rumor says we might get a Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake later next year.

Big whoop.

Okay, it is a big deal because I remember well just how beloved KotOR really was in the gaming community. I also know that amazingly, the "Star Wars" franchise has only strengthened over the years (and here I always thought people would eventually get bored), so the idea of a Knights remake will undoubtedly go over extremely well. But I'm not really a "Star Wars" fan and while everyone was playing KotOR, I was playing Jade Empire . I loved that game.

Yeah, it sometime ran like sh** and it had obscene loading times. But it was on the Xbox; all my Xbox games pretty much ran like sh** at one time or another. It was one of the crappiest systems I ever owned (no, never once had an issue with my PS2). But I kept playing because the game was just so freakin' fun. It combined the role-playing depth – of which I'm always a big fan – with a real-time martial arts-style combat, and a little magic mixed in. I didn't even like the setting (the history of China has just never appealed to me) and I still enjoyed every ounce of this adventure.

And you know, if you really think about it, this is exactly the kind of game that could thrive with all our fancy new tech. Jade Empire was such a fantastic concept the whole way 'round, but it was begging for better technology. Now that we have it, I think a remake could be one of my most anticipated games ever .
