“Biggest-Ever Version” Of Joe Danger 2 Hits Vita Next Week

PlayStation Vita owners got the original Joe Danger last September and now, here comes the sequel!

Developer Hello Games has announced that Joe Danger 2: The Movie will release for Sony's portable in North America on January 13. The price tag is an agreeable $10.99.

In this version, there are some special guest appearances courtesy of Media Molecule: Atoi and Iota from the excellent Tearaway are here, as is Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet , Steve from Minecraft , and the Team Fortress 2 mercs. All this means this is the "biggest-ever version of the game," which boasts 85 levels, including 15 from the Undead Movie Pack.

Oh, and don't forget that you'll enjoy silky smooth 60 frames per second, ghost downloads, online leaderboards, and Vita-tuned controls. You can even design your very own levels in Movie Maker Mode using the system's touchscreen controls, if you're the creative type.

Joe Danger 2 PSN Dated, Coming With “Joe Danger Gaiden”

Well, that didn't take long.

Although the anticipated Joe Danger sequel debuted first on Xbox Live, PS3 owners are soon going to be happy: It has been announced that Joe Danger 2: The Movie will hit the PlayStation Network in the US on October 9 for the price of $14.99. Our European friends get it a day later.

And as a bonus for our patience, we'll be receiving an exclusive feature for the PSN version. It's known as "Joe Danger Gaiden," which is a throwback to when developer Hello Games made the original game. As you might guess from the title, it's gonna be uber-challenging; it'll take over 10 hours to complete (25 new levels) and with "no tutorials and no hand-holding," only the most dedicated will be able to finish it. …don't be too intimidated or anything, but even the guys on the dev team couldn't complete it.

That stuff didn't make the cut for the first game because they wanted to make it more accessible. But now it'll be available for all the fans who first made the game so popular, and we appreciate it. Think you can handle a jetpack…? That oughta make things interesting!

Joe Danger Sequel Hitting PSN “Soon,” Dev Appreciates Fans

Don't know about you, but this news made my morning.

I maintain that Joe Danger is one of the very best downloadable games of the generation. Possibly the best aside from Journey . And considering the number of great digital titles we've seen on the PSN, that's saying something.

So the fans were a little miffed when the sequel, Joe Danger 2: The Movie was announced only for Xbox Live. Most don't mind the idea of multiplatform, but to shift exclusivity…? Seemed like a slap in the face. Ah, but it wasn't…we were wrong about that. We should've remembered that Sony has this policy of forcing developers to be quiet about certain projects (although we never know why). Remember David Jaffe saying Sony would never let him talk about Twisted Metal ? For like, a long time?

And so, here it is- Hello Games has announced that the fantastic sequel, which earned plenty of praise when it released on Live, is coming to the PSN. The cool part is that it's coming very soon, like possibly "in the next couple of weeks." Even better, it will boast 10 hours of extra content, and that should reflect some feedback from fans.  Lastly, the developer did confirm that they couldn't talk about this until now, so…

As for the situation at hand (which isn't a "situation," anymore), here's what Hello Games boss Sean Murray had to say:

"Genuinely I've hated not being able to talk about PSN. If I’ve learned one lesson, it’s don’t ever piss off PlayStation fans. They really made Hello Games, and we’re hopefully going to be able to set things straight with them now."

So everything's good. And we can't wait .
