A new year is fast approaching and Sony has announced the new free games coming up for next month. The selection is a bit mediocre but there are a couple gems in there if you haven’t already played them. It’s only a few more months before the end of support for PS3 and Vita in the free game lineup. We still don’t know what will take their place, if anything. Until then, check out what free games we’ll be getting next month.
Steep – PS4
Steep is an open world game that takes place in the Alps. The main focus of the game was online play with other players. You can make your way around the mountains by skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, and wingsuit flying.
Portal Knights – PS4
Among the many games that were influenced by Minecraft, Portal Knights takes an interesting direction. Take on the role of warrior, ranger, or mage. Craft, battle, and explore through multiple dimensions and worlds.
Zone of the Enders HD Collection – PS3
This is a nice collection that includes Zone of the Enders and the sequel Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner, both from Hideo Kojima. The PS2 games were remade for the PS3 and packed into a compilation with a new HD sheen.
Amplitude – PS3
Amplitude is a music game made by Harmonix, who are best known for making games like Rock Band. A sequel to Frequency, Amplitude has you controlling a ship across several tracks trying to hit notes for different instruments. It’s also worth noting that this is a remake of the original game. It includes new songs and takes advantage of the newer hardware.
Fallen Legion: Flames of Rebellion – Vita (cross buy to PS4)
This game comes out of the blue. Fallen Legion is a 2D, hand-drawn rpg that gives you the job of ruling and restoring a kingdom as princess Cecille. Each button controls a different character and allows you to make some interesting combo attacks.
Super Mutant Alien Assualt – Vita
An arcade platform shooter that has you trying to clear your ship of an alien infestation. You’ll have plenty of different weapons to help you out as well. Dodge and shoot your way through random levels filled with deadly aliens and bosses.
Also, don’t forget that you can still pick up the Warframe: PlayStation Plus Booster Pack III until January 15th which will give you a nice boost in Warframe.
What do you think of next months selection of games? Will you be picking them up? Or do you already own them?
