Another retro title slated for the newest platforms! You gotta love the contrast there.
The Kickstarter campaign for Hyper Light Drifter has reached a new stretch goal, which means it will also be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Anybody who pledged $15 or more can select the PS4 or Vita as their preferred platform, while those who offer $10 and up will have to choose between PC, Mac, or Linux. I think I'd go for the Vita version.
This is essentially an old-school RPG that blends the dungeon-crawling goodness of Diablo with the adventure elements of an "old-fashioned" The Legend of Zelda , and it looks like great fun. Thus far, the campaign has generated $231,879 from 9,894 supporters, and there are still 23 days left. They only needed $27,000 to make the game, but now it'll have a co-op campaign, a competitive multiplayer mode, two extra areas, and a full soundtrack from Disasterpiece. Things are going well!
And doesn't this prove widespread interest in so-called outdated forms of gameplay? I think it does.
