Former Xbox Exec Calls PlayStation Exclusives “Bangers”

Horizon Forbidden West

Even a former executive on Team Green notes the powerful exclusives PlayStation puts out and its strong strategy of not over-promising.

Former Microsoft vet and Activision Blizzard exec, Mike Ybarra, took to Twitter to share some screenshots of Horizon Forbidden West’s PC port, calling it the “best graphics” he’s ever seen. Obviously, it didn’t take long for one onlooker to take a jab saying he should get a job there, to which he just mentions that he’s working through his backlog and to not be “mad PlayStation makes bangers.”

PlayStation usually avoids over-promising and highlighting features that may not appear in final builds of games. While ultimately, The Last of Us Online was hyped up beyond belief — before cancelation — with it being touted as the most-ambitious game to date for Naughty Dog, we have no doubt that it would’ve at least kept itself grounded to what the hardware could do and provide players with a fun experience.

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition Officially Announced

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition

Guerrilla Games has officially revealed a complete edition of Horizon Forbidden West after multiple rumors suggested such a reveal was on the horizon.

Guerrilla posted a short trailer announcing the edition complete with a release date. A separate PlayStation Blog post details all the goodies you get with the Complete Edition. On top of the game and its DLC, you also get a digital soundtrack and digital art book, Horizon Zero Dawn Vol. 1: The Sunhawk digital comic book, more poses and facial expressions in Photo Mode, and new outfits and weapons unlocked through story progression.

Its price is the real winner, though, as Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition only retails at $59.99, making it a pretty sweet deal, considering its AAA status. It hits digital storefronts on October 6.

What do you think? Are you excited for the Complete Edition? Are you going to purchase it? Let us know below!

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition On The Horizon

Horizon Forbidden West

Horizon Forbidden West might be getting a complete edition headed for the PlayStation 5. No announcements have been made, but Singapore’s rating board once had a different listing for the Guerrilla Games title.

As spotted by VGC, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition showed up. It’s been bumped to MA18 due to the PS5 exclusive Burning Shores DLC seeing Aloy — optionally — able to kiss her same-sex companion Seyka. Since then, it’s been taken down by the time PSX Extreme went to verify.

This complete edition is going to current-gen only as while the base game made it to the PS4, its DLC was controversially PS5-only, making some players blast Guerrilla for even putting the game on the previous-gen if it wasn’t going to be fully supported.

As previously mentioned, we’ve got no announcements, but we imagine it’s probably going to be either during the holiday season or perhaps closer to Forbidden West’s February anniversary.

What do you think? Are you excited for a complete edition? Do you actually care? Let us know below!

Horizon Forbidden West Makes Water Less Foreboding With This Accessibility Option

Horizon Forbidden West

As Burning Shores launched today, some may be happy to hear Guerrilla Games has added a slew of accessibility options in  Horizon Forbidden West. One option that is seemingly a standout is its Thalassophobia Mode.

The news can be found over on Reddit. For those who don’t know, Thalassophobia is the phobia or intense fear of large bodies of water, especially if they’re deep and dark. With this mode turned on, it amps up the ambient vision and allows the player to basically breathe underwater permanently, no matter how far you are into the storyline.

Other accessibility options in Horizon Forbidden West include enlarging text, automatically picking things up, color blindness options, and more.

We’re sure this is an option plenty of gamers will appreciate, even if they aren’t plagued with Thalassophobia. We can all relate to hating water levels anyway, right?

Guerrilla Releases Burning Shores Behind-The-Scenes Video

Burning Shores

We’re coming close to the release of Horizon Forbidden West’s DLC, Burning Shores. To sweeten the pot ahead of release, Guerrilla Games has dropped a bit of behind-the-scenes footage of the motion capture room.

The video primarily focuses on the mocap Kylie Liya Page, who plays the newly introduced companion character, Seyka. The video shows the chemistry between Page and Ashly Burch, who reprises her role as Aloy. Truly, it’s just a hype piece to show how well the cast worked together on-set during the mocap process.

The DLC launches tomorrow on PC and exclusively on the PS5, much to the chagrin of PS4 players, who feel sour that it even came to the console in the first place. Soon, we’ll be able to visit and explore Fleet’s End.

Burning Shores Gives Us A New Town To Explore

Burning Shores

Horizon Forbidden West is a weird first-party game, while it’s a giant game from Guerrilla Games, it’s also something of a silent hit in a way, even if it’s the sequel to another enormous game. Despite not getting mentioned a ton, it’s no stranger to environmental storytelling, with settlements found all over the place in the base game. It seems Burning Shores, the upcoming PS5 exclusive DLC, will also offer us another town to wander through, too.

On Twitter, Guerrila’s official account asked if we were ready for Fleet’s End, the Quen’s home in Burning Shores. Described as an “impressive settlement,” this new town appears rather large and plagued by ruins and shipwrecks of the 21st century.

Fans can leap into Fleet’s End when the DLC launches on April 19.
