Guerrilla Games has proven itself several times over with the esteemed Killzone franchise, but they want to try something new.

We've heard that the talented developer has begun work on an all-new IP, and lead designer Eric Boltjes told Eurogamer that we shouldn't be expecting another shooter. Well, that's what he implied, at least:

"As a studio we do want to branch out, and we have started work on a new IP, something completely different to Killzone. I don't want to say anything about it right now, but as a studio we do want to keep it fresh."

The studio hasn't released a non- Killzone title since the team's first game, Shellshock: Nam '67 back in 2004. They really only know shooters (at least so far), so maybe when they say "very different," they mean a differently themed FPS. Still, I'd like to think they want to spread their wings a bit and try something really new. For the time being, we'll assume this new project will be another PlayStation 4 exclusive and if so, it should be something to look forward to for new PS4 owners.

Guerrilla's confirmed PS4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall , will be on store shelves on November 15.
