Football-Inspired DLC Fights Onto GTA Online This Week

For many, it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving without football.

Rockstar Games has announced a new adversary mode for the online component of Grand Theft Auto V : Running Back, inspired by the aforementioned sport and coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

If you're wondering, it's basically football with vehicles. As the developer explained:

"Two teams (a total of 4-8 players) square off from opposing sides of a roadway. The elusive Runner, behind the wheel of a Benefactor Panto, must go the distance and get across the end zone line at the far end of the highway with the help of their offensive teammates in BF Biftas. Meanwhile, their defensive-minded opponents (also in Biftas) must ruthlessly block, crash and pummel their way to try to stop them."

Running Back can be played at Ranton Canyon Bridge, La Mesa Bridge and Zancudo Tunnel. It is now available to try, so give it a whirl. In May of this year, GTAV became the 4th-best selling game of all time with 52 million sold; releasing it on the new platforms obviously helped. Just don't forget that Running Back and all future GTAV updates will not be available for the last-gen versions of the game.

Take-Two Falls Short In Fiscal 2012, But GTAV Is “Making Progress”

Publisher Take-Two Interactive didn't hit their revenue and profit goals for fiscal year 2012.

The problem, as cited by Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during a stockholder meetering , was the delay of several titles. This occurred for the sake of "additional development time" but of course, that affects the current bottom line. Said Zelnick:

"This was primarily due to our decision to postpone the release of several titles in order to allow for additional development time. Although our commitment to quality may occasionally affect near-term results, we believe it's the right approach for maximizing revenue and profits over the long-term."

Among those delayed was the hotly anticipated Bioshock Infinite , which was supposed to launch in mid-October. It has since been pushed to February 26. Then there's the heaviest hitter of all: Grand Theft Auto V . We still don't have a solidified launch date but many expect it to launch in the first quarter of 2013; Zelnick added that the game "is in full development and making substantial progress."

Well, our readers don't appear to be concerned .

Grand Theft Auto V Pre-Order Receipt Sparks Speculation

We keep hoping Grand Theft Auto V will be announced and detailed soon but for now, we have to rely on rumors.

As reported by GamerZines , GTAV has popped up at Gamestation, which is part of the UK's largest game retailer, the GAME Group. The listing has since been removed but they have a picture of a pre-order receipt; you can't pre-order games until the retailer has a date in the system. Of course, those dates are often placeholders simply for the sake of accumulating as many pre-orders as possible, but still…

The game has apparently shown up at other retailers as well; it was briefly on GameStop's Germany branch with a January 15, 2012 release, but that too is now gone. Right now, analysts are saying GTAV should be here during the first quarter of next year, and let's remember that GTAIV launched in April of 2008. Many fans will say we're overdue for the GTAV announcement. But can you imagine if Rockstar dropped a bomb and released it in December, or something?
