Time to further blur the line between single-player and multiplayer entertainment.
The Farm 51 ( Painkiller: Hell & Damnation ) has announced a new shooter scheduled for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. It's called Get Even and it will boast "photo-realistic" visuals and an innovative approach to single/multiplayer gaming.
The story revolves around the memories of its main heroes, and these memories will have a huge impact on how the narrative plays out. The decisions the player make will ultimately define their character's personality, and can also affect the narrative sequences. As for the aforementioned "blurring," when a player begins the single-player campaign, other human players can join as enemy players. This means you'll never know if your foes are human or NPC…although I'm willing to bet it won't be tough to tell the difference.
In regards to the "photo-realistic" visuals, that will be delivered courtesy of a new 3D scanning tech called "Thorskan." It utilizes "advanced lightning effects" to create those supposedly unbelievable graphics; you can see a demonstration in this YouTube video . Then there's the highly advanced weaponry, with guns the likes of which you've never seen, such as one that can shoot around corners.
Said The Farm 51 CEO Wojtek Pazdur:
"As an independent developer, it would be foolish to go head-to-head with the larger companies and create a 'me-too' knock-off, and frankly we wouldn’t be interested in doing it. We believe that there is still a ton of content and design creativity that has yet to be explored in the first-person genre, as well as an audience beyond the warfare player–those are the people we are going for with Get Even."
Get Even will be a digital download and it's tentatively slated to launch some time in 2015. Here's the debut trailer; it does look mighty promising.
