Thanks to the generosity of gamers, St. Jude's can continue the ongoing fight against cancer.
Video game retailer GameStop has announced that their "Thanks and Giving" charity campaign raised a grand total of $2.8 million during the November and December holiday period. That's nearly three times the original goal of $1 million.
The funds will go toward research and treatment of those suffering from childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. GameStop and its sister companies, including Spring Mobile, Simply Mac, ThinkGeek and Game Informer, gave consumers a chance to donate to the cause and everyone who donated at least $1 at GameStop got an extra 10 percent trade-in credit for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games.
This is the retailer's third year of participation and overall, they've managed to raise $4.2 million for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. And while that particular campaign is over, you can always give: Learn more at the organization's official website or call 1-800-4STJUDE.
