Want A Dissidia Sequel Or FFX-3? Go Work For Square Enix

That may not have been the best response to an innocent question.

During the recent Comic-Con event in Thailand, a fan asked Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto if either a Dissidia: Final Fantasy sequel or Final Fantasy X-3 could ever come to the PlayStation Vita (via GimmeGimmeGames ).

Granted, that's probably unlikely, but nobody expected Hashimoto to tell the fan to apply for a job with the company:

"You want a new one!!? for PS Vita? Oh. I’ll inform to the development team. If you have anything you want to tell them, you can tell me. You also can apply for jobs at SQEX. There is possibility for everyone but it might not be much as we have people from around the world looking to work with us. Our company also requires high qualification for new staff. But if anyone is interested, you may apply via our Homepage."

Now, maybe Hashimoto wasn't being a wise-ass; maybe he was actively recruiting. But really, he probably could've just said that they lack the manpower to make such projects happen right now, especially on the Vita. Something could've been lost in the translation, I'm sure, but those comments just sound sarcastically bitter to me.

Square Enix Might Consider FFXII HD, If They Get Enough Requests

The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remasters are already available in Japan, and they'll be out in the US next month.

So, now that Square Enix has issued a high-definition overhaul of two PS2 Final Fantasy entries, how's about the third? What's stopping them from doing Final Fantasy XII HD ?

Well, they're not ruling it out but for now, there are "no plans" for such a project. Speaking with SG Cafe , series producer Shinji Hashimoto was asked about Yoshinori Kitase's previously documented interest in a FFXII remaster. Hashimoto's response:

"At this moment, we do not have any plans [to release a HD remastered version of Final Fantasy XII]. But as Kitase-san has mentioned, if there are a lot of requests from the fans for a HD remastered version of Final Fantasy XII, we might consider it. But with that said, at this moment there are no plans to do so."

As for the idea of Final Fantasy X-3 , that won't be happening. They expanded upon FFX-2 a little for the sake of the HD Remaster, but the developers won't be revisiting that particular story arc. If you're wondering, the FFX/X-2 HD Remasters have sold over 400,000 copies in Japan alone…which, by the way, is just about what the latest entry, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII , has sold.

FFX, X-2 Script Writer: “I Would Like To See Final Fantasy X-3”

The franchise's first true sequel came in the form of Final Fantasy X-2 . Did you want another one?

Because FFX and FFX-2 writer Kazuhige Nojima does. During a recent FF-Reunion interview (as translated by Gematsu ), he said that if the demand for a sequel is there, something could happen. He also added:

"I, personally, would like to see a sequel such as Final Fantasy X-3."

If you've forgotten, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster set will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and Vita in North America on March 18. The collection features high-definition overhauls of the two games in the title, and die-hard series followers everywhere can't wait for it to arrive. But how would they respond to a sequel? A lot of people never gave X-2 enough credit for its more refined combat mechanic; too many just focused on the J-Pop style and the "girly" atmosphere.

It was indeed a little feminine. After all, the three main characters were all female. But that didn't stop the game from being great…although I'm not sure I'd trust Square Enix with that same structure now. Yuna already had guns; they'd just turn her into the female Dante and pretend it's Devil May Cry . And then I'd have to vomit.
