FF Versus XIII Scenario, Character Designs Complete

Last week, we heard all about the detailed interview in Famitsu that shed more light on Final Fantasy Versus XIII .

Now, it's the other major Japanese gaming publication's turn, Dengeki: according to Versus XIII director Tetsuya Nomura, the game's scenario is fully complete, which means the story and script are all done. Furthermore, the character design process is also finished and because of that, Nomura adds that FF fans will be able to feast their eyes on the completed characters some time soon. Oh, and if you didn't already know, the clothes the characters in the game wear were actually designed by Japanese manufacturer Roen, which is kinda cool. As we get closer and closer to the Tokyo Game Show this September, we're starting to get more and more convinced that Final Fantasy Versus XIII might finally receive the massive unveiling we've been waiting for since late last year. Although the official reveal hasn't exactly happened yet, you can piece together a good amount of info if you look around; we just don't have the gameplay footage we've been craving.

Our current poll asks you what you think of the game thus far, and well over half of you who have voted say you expect it to be good. Here's hoping!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII Details Surface, Unveiling Soon?

It was a no-show at E3 this year but new information is creeping to the surface, and the last update we heard was that we can expect a full unveiling at the Tokyo Game Show this fall.

In the meantime, various pieces of new information have been circulating , much to the appreciation of anxious fans everywhere. An interview with FF producer Tetsuya Nomura in a Japanese gaming publication has been leaked, complete with screenshots and all the relevant highlights. The pics in the magazine are admittedly low-quality but they show the game running in real-time gameplay, and in sharp contrast to the start of Final Fantasy XIII , this one "employs an open field concept." Hence, you can pretty much travel wherever you wish at all times (with a few exceptions). The other details are as follows:

This also says we should expect the game to make a big splash at TGS 2010, and the team currently remains very "motivated." Nomura himself may want to unveil Final Fantasy Versus XIII before TGS and as an added bonus, Square-Enix should be bringing currently unannounced titles to the upcoming show as well. For now, we'll be satisfied with what we have…despite our disappointment that it didn't steal everyone's hearts during Sony's E3 press conference.
