Yes, we all now know Final Fantasy XV is coming out on September 30 (yep, that rumor was accurate ).
But Square Enix had a lot more to announce and show off at their big "Uncovered: Final Fantasy" event last night so if you missed any of it, here's the recap:
First up, the two very special editions: The first is the Deluxe Edition; priced at $89.99, it will contain the following, besides a copy of the game:
The second is the pricey but jam-packed Ultimate Collector's Edition, which will retail for a whopping $269.99 and include everything in the Deluxe Edition plus:
Square Enix will only produce 30,000 units of the Ultimate set, so you better pre-order ASAP. And remember, this is exclusive to the publisher's online store so if you want it, head over there now.
Then, in perhaps the most encouraging news for the impatient crowd, Square Enix announced that a brand new free FFXV demo is now available for sampling. Dubbed the "Platinum Demo," players will assume the role of a young Noctis, and they'll be guided through a dreamscape by a cute little creature called Carbuncle (hey, FF fans know him!). The idea is to give players a chance to see the game's finished graphics, and also introduce them to the finalized combat and magic systems. Once you're done with the demo, you can assign Carbuncle a new name if you wish, and then he'll be usable as a Summon in the final product.
But it didn't end there. Square Enix revealed a full-length feature film designed specifically for FFXV. "Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV" was directed by Takeshi Nozue (co-director of "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children"), and it will launch this summer via digital distribution, so yeah, it'll be here before the game. The film will star some big names, too; Aaron Paul ("Breaking Bad"), Lena Headey ("Game of Thrones"), and Sean Bean ("The Lord of the Rings"). The story in the movie will start directly after Noctis and his friends set off on their adventure, and we'll see a few crossover characters as well.
Lastly, there's a new mobile game in the works called Justice Monsters Five and it acts as a FFXV tie-in. This will be available for both iOS and Android platforms. Okay, enough talk; how's about some awesome media?!
