Final Fantasy VII PC Port On PS4 Comes With Cheap Cheats

Final Fantasy VII was not a hard game.

In fact, there are many fans who complained of its relative ease when compared to previous installments in the series. But games have gotten easier and easier these days and maybe even FFVII is too much for the uninitiated.

That's why there are three cheats available in the Final Fantasy VII high-def PC port that is now available for PlayStation 4. As noted by IGN , these cheats will make the epic adventure that much easier:

Cheat 1: Simultaneously press L3 and R3, which will toggle random encounters on and off. Man, how many times did we wish we had this option in FF games?

Cheat 2: If you hold down the L3 stick, the game will move three times as fast. Completely unnecessary but then again, with attention spans being in the toilet and the modern age of gaming moving at the speed of light, it's an understandable addition for the twitchers.

Cheat 3: Pressing the R3 stick lets you refill all health and Limit Break meters. This is utterly ridiculous as it basically makes your team invincible but whatever.

The Final Fantasy VII Remake has been stealing all the headlines lately, what with the fresh trailer that debuted during the PlayStation Experience, and the news that it would be released in some sort of episodic format . But for those who simply want to play the game the way it was always meant to be played, grab that FFVII PC port on PS4.

Ironically, the PC version of this game sucked when it first arrived. I remember PlayStation fans laughing at it.

Final Fantasy VII’s PC Return Is Official

What we had heard through the grapevine is now official .

Final Fantasy VII is returning to the PC, as Square Enix has formerly revealed.

It's "coming soon" and it will feature achievements, cloud saves, and a "Character booster" that will let players cheat. Yeah, they can artificially increase their stats and money…I call that cheating, but whatever. By the way, this latter feature might be microtransaction-based, although we're not really sure…all I do know is that I don't recall experience or money to be especially tough to come by in FFVII. Just put a little leveling effort in, and you're good. What, too much for the current twitchy gamers?

Oh, all right, I take it back. Anyway, the FFVII PC re-release will be exclusive to the Square Enix store and it'll be available in the US and Europe in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. Well obviously , this means a remake is coming. I mean, come on. Right? …uh…right?

P.S. "Cloud" saves. …ha.

Would FFVII’s Return To PC Hint At A Return To Consoles?

Sorry. I just had to.

With the news today that Square Enix may intend to re-release the classic Final Fantasy VII for the PC complete with achievements and cloud saves, one has to wonder…

From a financial and resources standpoint, this is probably the easiest thing for the company to do; it isn't a remake and all they're doing is reissuing the same game they produced back in 1998 (it hit the PlayStation in '97). Adding the achievements, cloud saves, and a lame little feature that lets you increase your stats "with the click of a button" isn't complicated. But that's not the question here. The pressing question is- "Why even bother?"

Maybe it's a cost-effective way to further gauge the burning fan desire for an actual remake. Although PS1 classics are not often overhauled due to the sheer amount of time and effort involved, it has happened (and the Oddworld remake is coming, too). We're getting Final Fantasy X HD – which is much appreciated – and that also might serve as another gauge. It just seems bizarre to re-release FFVII for the PC out of the blue, especially when the company's primary focus this generation has been to move away from their JRPG roots.

Yes, it's easy and quick. So maybe they're just viewing this as a fast money-maker. But I'd really like to believe that, logically speaking, this is almost like a trial… And then we can finally talk about the drop-dead-awesome FFVII remake for the PS4!

'cough'
