Ubisoft Used Far Cry 4’s Topography As A Guide For Primal

One wonders how often this might happen in the development world.

The recently released Far Cry Primal is undeniably different from its predecessor, Far Cry 4 , but they're similar in at least one way…

Check out the picture of each game's topography as first shown at GamePressure ; as you can see, the two maps aren't that much different. Later, a source close to Ubisoft supposedly confirmed to Kotaku that the designers used FC4's heightmaps "as a basis" for the new entry.

But before you flip out, we should remind you that Primal don't look like FC4; it's not like you'll be playing it and going, "damn, I've played on this map before." You're in 10,000 BC for one thing, and the gameplay is distinctly different, so don't worry about a recycled experience. It's just that they obviously used a preexisting tool, which probably isn't uncommon within other franchises.

PSXE Poll Update: Garden Warfare 2, Far Cry Fall Flat

Hey, we say both games are actually pretty great.

But that doesn't change the fact that the majority of PSXE readers just aren't interested in getting the two titles that launched this past week.

When we asked you guys if you planned to snag Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 and/or Far Cry Primal , the response was clear: Neither. Though a few more people voted for the latter, it's obvious that most of you had no interest in getting either game, even though we said GW2 is a fantastic, lighthearted, addictive multiplayer funfest and Primal is a wonderfully atmospheric and well-designed adventure. Well, perhaps you'll change your tune next week when Tom Clancy's The Division comes out…we'll see.

This time around, let's ask the million-dollar question, inspired by that great Story Trailer : Will Uncharted 4: A Thief's End be your Game of the Year in 2016? Or, are you thinking another promising title will take the crown? Let us know.

PSXE Poll Update: Excitement Is Low For Street Fighter V

It's a big deal for all avid fighting fans and it got a lot of attention for only being available on PlayStation 4 and PC.

But that obviously wasn't enough to pique the curiosity of our readers at PSXE. Either that, or we just don't have a lot of hardcore fighting followers around.

According to the results of our most recent poll, the majority of participants have no interest in getting Street Fighter V . In our review, we said the gameplay was mostly top-notch but the lack of content and features was just frustrating and in some cases, unforgivable. There were also some performance and online issues Capcom had to fix after the game released, which got lots of headlines. It just seems like too many gamers were turned off of SFV even before the title was actually available, you know?

But what about this week? We're getting two potentially fun – but drastically different – games: Far Cry Primal and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 . You up for both? Just one or the other? Neither? To help your decision, be sure to check out Ubisoft's recent info for Primal and our thoughts on the Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 beta .
