Fall Guys Named Most Downloaded PS Plus Game Of All Time

Fall Guys

Mediatonic’s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has been named the most downloaded PlayStation Plus game of all time. The news comes from their official Twitter announcing the achievement marked down in history by the Guinness World Records.

This news is kind of stale, though, considering everyone already knew the feat they accomplished back in August 2020 when the game landed as a PS Plus title. This feat means it beat out other contenders for the most downloaded title such as Rocket League.

Sony then revealed the news and from that point forward, many people expected something like this to be possible.

Fall Guys Taps Disney To Crossover With Tron

Fall Guys

The team over at Mediatonic has revealed the next batch of content to its adoring Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Like its last batch, crossovers are aplenty.

With the future theme of Season 4, it only seems fitting that Mediatonic has tapped the House of Mouse, AKA Disney, to formulate some new costumes based on one of its less touched properties as of late – Tron.

The new jellybean outfits are directly inspired by the franchise, with one of them clearly sporting the old design, while the other three feature the more modern take from Tron: Legacy.

In the end, you’ll be able to dress your unnervingly tall bean-shaped participant as either Tron, Rinzler, Quorra, or Sark. The first three will be available in a premium DLC pack. Sark, on the other hand, will cost you 22,000 kudos.

We don’t have much longer to wait, the four new skins will be launching on May 24.

Fall Guys Showcases New Level, Full Reveal Later This Week

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout

More content is coming soon to Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. The official social media account showcased a level referred to as Stumble Skylines, which will be one of the levels that will be introduced into the next season of content.

This new season tosses in things like forcefields, low gravity zones, “chonky” buttons, and more to the mix. Stumble Skylines is only one of the seven levels fans can expect in the near future. Season 4 will make a full reveal on March 15.

Fall Guys Dev Includes Red Panda Skin For One User

Fall Guys

As Valentine’s Day rolls around, Mediatonic‘s Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has finally included a much sought after skin by one user. For the last 165 days, Twitter user, TinoTheDunce, had been tweeting at the company to include the skin.

Jump forward to now and the official Twitter revealed that it’d be adding a red panda skin to the massively popular title. Effectively caving, but in a good way, to a fan’s request.

This wasn’t out of the blue as the user was singled out and told this was for them. The skin was revealed on Twitter alongside many of his tweets begging for its inclusion.

This didn’t go unnoticed by Tino who responded that he can finally lose matches with dignity.

Fall Guys Recouped Development Costs In Just 4 Hours

Fall Guys

We don’t report on this game a lot here on the good ol’ PSX Extreme, but Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout was a, for a lack of a better word, knockout, when it launched to PC and PS4. It didn’t take long for the game to really pick up traction and nab a huge following, how huge, though? Enough to recoup development costs quickly.

Developer Mediatonic knew they’d get a good return and be able to make up for the costs in due time – they expected more of a wait, though.

Originally pitched by lead game designer Joe Walsh, he took the time to have a convo with GamesIndustry about its success, the short time span, and how long he personally expected to wait.

“It always feels like the big battle in games is to make your development budget back – if you do that, you’re a success. I’d steeled myself, thinking it might take six months or a year to break even. Fall Guys did it in about four hours.”

The actual success could be attributed to any number of factors from its release time coinciding with more people shuttered in-doors to avoid the pandemic to its summer holiday release, or perhaps the simple concept reminiscent of any number of obstacle course game shows.

At this time, the studio is hard at work developing its mid-season update, which among other things, will include a new level, new variations of already established ones, new skins in the store, and more. This comes not long after they released its third season.

Fall Guys Knocks Players Out In The Cold In Season 3

Fall Guys

After the internet banded together to solve the puzzle, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout took to Twitter to announce its third season’s theme. Last season took players on a medieval adventure. This season will drag players through the cold in Winter Knockout.

The journey to get the theme uncovered was quite a task. Instead of a normal announcement, the theme was hidden in a 300-piece jigsaw puzzle distributed to people who responded to them on social media. Each piece of the puzzle clicks together and, in the end, displays the theme.

Not much is known about the new season – not even its release date.
