E3 2011: Vita Priced, Will Release This Holiday Season

It's what we've been waiting for: the price!

After a lengthy PlayStation Vita presentation – which was most impressive, by the way – Kaz Hirai has revealed that this fancy new portable will be available "this holiday season." Also, the two prices: the wi-fi only model will retail for $249.99 and the 3G-enabled version will have a $299.99 price tag. That's not bad, especially considering the technology involved and the prices are also competitive with the Nintendo 3DS. This is one of those items that the gadget-lovers and gamers are going to love, and you can bet that it'll be huge when it arrives. Plus, with over 80 games currently in development from all sorts of designers and studios, the Vita should be well supported. The question is- how interested are you? Gonna get one?

And by the way, that's it for Sony's press conference. Indeed, it was all about the games.

E3 2011: Tretton Says “You Are The Lifeblood” Of Sony

You had to assume Sony would start with an apology.

To start Sony's E3 2011 press conference, SCEA president Jack Tretton offered a big thanks to their partners for sticking with them through the PlayStation Network ordeal.

And after saying that PlayStation 3 sales numbers are up over last year (which was the biggest year of the PS3 to date), he stated the obvious: consumers are the "lifeblood of the company." He adds that Sony remains committed to delivering a quality, reliable experience for all consumers, and says the "value of the platform is exponentially greater today than it was just a few yeas ago." Now he's moving into something special…yep, they're kicking off with Uncharted , and if you're watching, you know how amazing Drake's Deception looks. Welcome the Naughty Dog guys.

And we forgive you, Sony. Let's just focus on the future…and hope the hackers suffer a deserving fate.

E3 2011: Kobe Presents The “Crazy Realistic” NBA 2K12

It isn't E3 without a little star power.

Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant has stepped on stage during Sony's E3 press conference to help introduce NBA 2K12 . Why is Sony specifically highlighting this multiplatform title? Because Kobe is out there playing the game with PlayStation Move and as he tells the crowd, "it's so realistic it's frightening." If you're into basketball games, you know 2K Games typically gives the fans a fantastic product each and every year and come fall, you'll want to try the Move-enabled NBA 2K12 . Our only question is if Kobe will actually play this game with the Move, or with the regular controller…he certainly seemed enthusiastic but then again, he was paid $10k for only about three minutes of stage time.

And Sony has moved on to displaying Sorcery , which could very well be the defining title for Move.

Insomniac To Reveal Multiplatform Project At E3

Third-party exclusivity is basically a thing of the past, even for Insomniac.

After being an exclusive member of the PlayStation family ( Ratchet & Clank , Resistance ) for many years, we learned in 2010 that Insomniac would be going multiplatform. Since then, we really haven't heard anything about this mystery project, but it seems the studio will reveal it at EA's E3 press conference later today. At the time of the initial announcement, Insomniac CEO Ted Price said they were going multiplatform to reach the largest audience possible…thanks Ted, but we already knew that, and strictly from a business standpoint, we don't blame you at all. Besides, we know your team will put the same amount of effort into this new multiplatform game as you've done for the exclusive titles in the past.

It should be an all-new IP, too, as Sony owns the rights to Ratchet & Clank and Resistance 3 remains a PlayStation 3 exclusive, slated to release on September 6.

PSXE Poll Update: Gamers Lukewarm On Duke’s Return

Gamers are nearing the end of a 13-year wait for Duke Nukem Forever but not everyone is psyched.

According to our recent poll, the majority of readers are either unsure of the game's quality or simply aren't interested in the slightest. Some did express their enthusiasm for the upcoming shooter but it seems a decade of mockery may have had a negative impact on the name of Duke. Either that, or most younger gamers – many of whom have never even heard of Duke Nukem – were never caught up in the hype to begin with, and just don't care. The bottom line is that if the game is great, people will probably play it. But based on the feedback we're seeing for the demo (now available for First Access members), things aren't looking good… Still, we won't pass judgment until we get our hands on the final product.

This week, it's all about E3 and quite possibly the biggest news will revolve around Nintendo's new console. And because neither Sony or Microsoft will reveal new hardware, we kinda want to know how the Sony fans feel about Nintendo's latest platform venture. Are you excited? Do you have to learn more? Skeptical? …thinking they should just go the Sega route and put Mario on all major platforms?
