Dragon’s Dogma 2 Earmarked As Capcom’s First $70 Game

Capcom’s upcoming single-player action-RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2, is going to be the studio’s first $70 base game after shying away from adopting the new price. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as studio President Harushiro Tsujimoto believes that game prices are too low and that raising prices is a “healthy option” for the industry, as tech advances and game dev costs rise.

As reported by Eurogamer, Dragon’s Dogma 2, a sequel to its 2012 adventure, will have a $70 base game and an $80 deluxe version. Deep down, we knew it would happen, but here’s hoping that the game actually will live up to its asking price when it launches on March 22, 2024.

What do you think? Are you going to buy Dragon’s Dogma 2? Have you played the original? Let us know below!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Isn’t Adding Co-Op, Guys

Dragon's Dogma 2

Despite billing itself as a single-player experience from day one, speculation has risen pondering whether or not Dragon’s Dogma Online has led to Dragon’s Dogma 2 including co-op.

Of course, the answer is no, a simple search on the game’s website labels it as a single-player game, but it isn’t hard to see why fans of the precursor could think a co-op feature is on the horizon. 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma certainly felt like it wanted to include some sort of multiplayer but settled for AI companions instead. This left the main game without any multiplayer functionality.

In 2015, Capcom unveiled an MMO in the game’s universe, but that never came to the West and shuttered for good in 2019. Because of this, fans may want to see a return to playing with their friends, but simply put, Dragon’s Dogma 2 just isn’t gonna be it.

Dragon’s Dogma 2? The Possibility For A Sequel Exists

Dragon's Dogma was a surprise to many, and definitely one of 2012's best action/RPGs.

The well-received game is finally making its way to PC this year, and during a new PC Gamer interview , producer Minae Matsukawa confirmed that while there are no plans for a sequel, it's not out of the realm of possibility:

"The Dragon's Dogma development team members often talk about the possibility of a sequel. We'd love to hear the opinions and feedback from players of the upcoming PC port of Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, as that will increase the chances that we can look into the possibility of continuing the series."

The PC port of the upgraded version – Dark Arisen – is scheduled to launch on January 15; it released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013. The good news is that Matsukawa says the original team is mostly intact, as they also created Dragon's Dogma Online , the free-to-play title that launched last year for PS4, PS3 and PC in Japan. So, if a true sequel was to happen, most of the same developers would be in on the project.

Sounds good to me; a new Dragon's Dogma for PS4 would be awesome!
