BioWare always goes under the microscope when they include sex scenes in their games.

So, what should we expect when Dragon Age: Inquisition hits store shelves? More controversy and irate, offended fans? Well, maybe not. Cinematic director Jonathan Perry says the team has taken inspiration from Mass Effect and will deliver "mature and tasteful" sexual content.

In a new GamerZines interview , Perry elaborated:

"I think Mass Effect’s scenes were done really well and I think we will take Inquisition’s scenes in that direction. You might have a nude character but they are framed in such a way that parts of them are in shadow, or having characters in various states of undress."

Perry added that they're not focusing on the sex itself, but what it symbolizes; i.e., that the player's character spent a lot of time becoming intimately acquainted with an NPC character. When asked if such scenes could portray the same amount of emotion as film, Perry said it's "inevitable" that games are capable of that…just not yet. However, even then, the interactive element in video games will make a big difference:

"But I think that games can be powerful in a very different way because they are interactive and they are based on your choices. They can react to what you’re doing and that’s something you don’t get in film as you are a passive viewer."

Dragon Age: Inquisition is scheduled to launch some time next year, and it will be available for current- and next-gen consoles as well as PC.
