Codemasters Apparently Cranking Away On A New DiRT

Codemasters knows racing. And fans of the genre are anxiously awaiting a new DiRT installment.

We're sort of overdue for a new entry, too. We got DiRT Showdown in 2012, but the last official entry in the series, DiRT 3 , arrived in 2011. So, will we see one in 2014?

Well, one fan asked the studio on their Twitter page if they were working on a new DiRT . The developer replied:

"Well we're not, not working on one. ;)"

That's pretty obvious, wouldn't you say? Codemasters is also scheduled to deliver F1 2014 at some point, which is always challenging for hardcore racing fanatics. DiRT has always been an excellent Rally simulator, although Showdown was more about more accessible fun that caters to a wider demographic. It's about time to return to the original franchise, where we can once again test our Rally skills to the max.

DiRT 3 Trailer Debuts On ESPN

The DiRT titles by Codemasters are excellent off-road racing games and we're expecting yet another impressive experience when the third iteration drops.

If you were watching the X Games on ESPN on Saturday night, you may have caught the very first look at DiRT 3 . The trailer is below if you missed it; the action centers on the changing environments, obviously indicating the types of surfaces on which you'll have to race in the game. There's everything from rain to snow to good ol' dirt, but then there's that bit at the end where a tractor trailer blows up…not sure what that's about. It was a pretty cool stunt to wing back around underneath the busted trailer, though.

There's no doubt that DiRT 3 will be another highly accomplished off-roader, and we're going to be on the lookout for more info and details. By the way, is anyone reminded of the fake, fan-created Uncharted 3 logo when they look at the side of that car…? Or is it just me?
