Console Versions Of Diablo III Might Get The Season Feature

Diablo III on consoles is an excellent experience.

But those who don't play the game on PC still miss out on the Seasons feature, and some fans have wondered why.

Well, the developers have said in the past that consoles and PCs are set up differently in regards to leaderboards and online communities, and consoles generally favor more couch co-op play. That being said, it looks like Blizzard is rethinking the idea of keeping Seasons exclusive to PC.

During a recent IGN interview , Blizzard senior game producer Rob Foote offered the following as an update:

"Sometimes Seasons aren’t really about the leaderboard, but having a fresh start, experiencing the game again and feeling like you’re part of a larger community than yourself where the excitement around Diablo is there. So I think maybe that’s something we need to re-evaluate again. We’ll probably go back and revisit that decision."

The Seasons let players interact with other Seasonal characters and during the duration of that Season, they can pick up exclusive drops and achievements. Once it's over, the characters are rolled into the player's roster of non-Seasonal characters. It has worked out quite well on PC and there shouldn't be any reason we can't have it on consoles, too.

Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition remains one of the most addictive and entertaining experiences on PS4.

Diablo III Euro Download Is A LOT Bigger Than US Version

If you're in Europe and you're planning to download the upcoming Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition , you're gonna need a fair amount of hard drive space.

In fact, you'll need more than double the amount of space gamers in the US will require. This according to the product listings for each version on the PlayStation Store .

European consumers will need 58.4GB of space while US gamers will only require 26.1GB. This makes the Ultimate Evil Edition the biggest download yet for the PlayStation 4 in the European region, and this could be due to multiple language audio tracks. If you check the Euro PlayStation Blog , you'll see that some gamers are saying that pre-ordering the title brings up multiple downloads.

One download is for 20.5GB and that appears to just include the English tracks, while the other is 37.8GB, and it seems to include the European localization. Considering the size of the US download (26.1GB), this could be possible. But can audio tracks alone really take up that much space…? We'll let the tech-heads figure it out.

Diablo III Hits PS3 On September 3, PS4 Version In 2014

If you're wondering when you'll be able to play Diablo III on consoles, well…it's a little complicated. Pay attention.

It'll come to the PS3 and Xbox 360 on September 3 of this year. However, it won't hit next-generation consoles until 2014, as per recent Blizzard info . The odd part is that the game has been confirmed for the PS4 but not the Xbox One.

Game director Josh Mosqueira and designers Travis Day and Wyatt Cheng said that releasing Diablo III for the PS4 in 2014 gives the team time to "create unique features." We already know they're planning to take advantage of the Dual Shock 4, as the touhpad will be used to manage the inventory. What else might they add…? If you're wondering, the title in question launched for the PC in May 2012 and went on to sell over 12 million copies as of December 31. That ain't too shabby, and we imagine many more will buy it on consoles.

Then again, maybe a lot of people are thinking Diablo can really only be enjoyed on PC. That may not be true, but we gotta see the final product before passing judgment.

Diablo III Solo, Multiplayer Action From E3

It has been a long time coming, but console players should be appreciative that Blizzard will finally deliver Diablo III .

It wasn't all that prominently featured during any of the press conferences, but the game was shown running on the PS3 on the E3 show floor. Now, that presentation is online for all to see, and it's definitely encouraging.

This is a long gameplay clip featuring both single-player and multiplayer action, as explained by game director Josh Mosqueira. The best part about this segment? It's so clearly Diablo . In an age and generation when even the most recognizable and iconic franchises are no longer…well, recognizable, it's great to see at least one major franchise sticking to its roots. The action also looks smooth and entertaining, and we can't wait to give it a try!

Diablo III is confirmed for PS3 and PS4, so you'll have your pick. Does this gameplay bring back a lot of nostalgic memories for you? It certainly does for me… Old-school questing FTW!

Thanks, Zak!
