Deus Ex: Human Revolution is one of the current generation's best games.
Therefore, you should be excited to learn that developer Eidos Montreal has announced development of a next-gen franchise installment. As revealed at the studio's community website , the new Deus Ex is scheduled for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Boss David Anfossi said it took them four years to create a "unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution ," and most of that same team is hard at work on the new offering. Thus far, they've only released one piece of concept art, which shows off "trans-humanism segregation," and that's supposed to be the backdrop for the next game. Basically, they're going to represent a "ghetto-city" that has been voluntarily built in order to separate the classes.
Of course, they've only just begun so we shouldn't expect to hear significant updates for a little while yet. We don't even have a title yet, after all. But we do know that this new iteration will be part of a fresh concept Eidos Montreal is calling the Deus Ex: Universe. They intend to generate an "ongoing, expanding, and connected game world built across a generation of core games." So, an MMO to go along with the standalone new entry, yes? This vision will include graphic novels, too.
Lastly, they also confirmed that a special Director's Cut version of Human Revolution will hit store shelves in North America on October 22 and in Europe on October 25. It'll be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC and it will feature second-screen functionality via SmartGlass, Vita and the Wii U GamePad. If you missed out in 2011, get it.
