This is the proper way to respond to fan backlash.
When Bungie revealed The Taken King's Collector's Edition for Destiny , veteran players had one problem: Certain class items, shaders, and emotes were exclusive to that $80 edition.
This meant they wouldn't be available to current players unless they bought the Collector's Edition , which of course is basically buying the same game again. But in the team's latest Weekly Update , they've rectified the situation: Now, players will be able to purchase a $20 upgrade to the $40 expansion, which will grant them access to that previously locked digital content.
So, if you've got the base game and you've purchased the previous two expansions, you can get everything included in The Taken King. Those who have hit Level 30 or have played both prior expansions will still rank as VIPs and will receive exclusive rewards.
The Taken King is slated to launch in September and it'll boast a new raid, several new strikes, a new story, and multiplayer improvements and additions.
