Shenmue III is Coming Next Year

Shenmue III

The Shenmue series was introduced in 1999 and then said its goodbyes in 2005 after only the second game. This left some fans a fair bit disappointed. The outcry was heard and a third game was finally announced. Shenmue III began production with the help of a Kickstarter as well as additional funding from Sony. In 2015 the game was announced to release in December of 2017, but evidently it didn’t hit that mark. They pushed it to 2018, but that was still too early.

Jump to now and as of August 21, we know the current release date of Shenmue III is August 27, 2019, on the PS4 and PC.

Are you excited for the release? Are you going to pre-order when the time comes or just wait a bit?

Koch Media Acquires TimeSplitters and Second Sight

Timesplitters

A couple classics are making their triumphant return to the gaming market under a new owner. PS2 classic, TimeSplitters, has been around since 2000, but the most recent title was all the way from 2005. Now, the franchise has a new owner and they aren’t going to let the franchise go to waste.

Koch Media, a subsidiary of THQ Nordic, now has the rights to make new TimeSplitters titles as well as re-release old ones. This is due to their affiliation with Deep Silver who are a subsidiary of Koch Media. While no information has come out or been confirmed, it isn’t out of the realm of possibility that they could remake the old titles and release new ones shortly after.

This isn’t the end either, Koch Media also owns the rights to the science fiction, stealth-adventure game, Second Sight.

Would you buy any of these titles if they were remade?

Metro Exodus delayed until 2019

Metro Exodus is being delayed into 2019. Publisher Deep Silver and the developer 4A games put out this joint statement:

Deep Silver and 4A Games would like to share some important information with you regarding the release date of Metro Exodus.

The development of Metro Exodus is progressing well; we are all really excited by what we are seeing. We have been constantly reviewing the games progress to ensure that we deliver a product that gamers and fans of the Metro series want and deserve, as well as keeping an eye on announcements from our competitor products. We want everyone to be able to experience what is the most ambitious Metro game to date at its absolute best and therefore we have taken the decision to move the release date to Q1 2019. We know that this will be disappointing news for fans that had hoped to play the game this year, but also know that you will appreciate the results that this additional development time and new release date will bring.

We would also like to take this opportunity to confirm that at E3 in June we will be revealing some brand new gameplay from a never before seen game environment for you to enjoy.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, we look forward to sharing more with you in June.

Metro Exodus is the third game from the series and will leave the tunnels and head out into the open world of Moscow. Expect more mutants, enemy factions, and don’t forget your gas mask filters because you’ll be dealing with a lot of radiation on the surface. Now would be a perfect time to check out the Metro Redux collection, containing the first two games; Metro 2033 and Last Light, if you haven’t already.

Dead island 2 is Undead

The first dead island came out way back in 2011 to fairly good but mixed reviews. It mixed zombie survival and RPG genres together. It's one those games I never got around to playing but always wanted to. Last word on development of Dead Island 2 was last year and it looked like it was going to slip into development hell after releasing Riptide. RIP.

But it looks like we're going to some Dead Island 2 anyways. Thanks to eurogamer.net for getting the info. They asked publisher Deep Silver if it was still on development and they got a pretty encouraging response.

It looks like I'm going to have to go find a copy of the first game so I can jump on the bandwagon when some actual news of the 2nd game comes out (or better yet, get the definitive edition ). Who knows we might even get something about it at e3. I’m glad to hear it’s still in the works. I always find myself a little disheartened when something that is unique and generally considered good is possibly  getting tanked. Maybe I’m just a big softy.

The mix of RPG and survival wasn't perfect but it always intrigued me and apparently it was one those games that kind hooked you at some point. I'm reminded of Borderlands, that game hooked me in a very similar manner. Hopefully we'll hear some more solid information about Dead Island 2 soon.

The last time we got anything meaty about Dead Island 2 was this hilarious trailer they aired at E3 a few years ago.
